Finding out that VT is the subject of so much scorn by a lot of fans was the biggest surprise in joining TRF.

My biggest surprise by FAR when I joined TRF was that anyone liked what to me has always been the absolute clusterf*ck disaster that is VT. I still don't get it. no.gif confused13.gif wacko.gif

ohmy.gif Rushgoober.. I.. I.. never knew! You've kept your true VT feelings to yourself so well!

Cute response, and funny, but the album is still an embarrassment to their legacy. All I can say is thank God for Snakes and Arrows, and especially for Clockwork Angels, so we can move on from that unfortunate chapter in Rush history...

It seems to me you're the one of the few who feels the need to have to move on...we hardly look upon it as anything to be embarrassed about thoroughly enjoying. wink.gif

Well, it IS their lowest rated album (ok, T4E gets a SLIGHTLY lower rating, but it is at the bottom of the barrel):

I do find many hardcore fans to be INCREDIBLY forgiving of this album. I wish I could be that kind, but the album is just a mess.

Of course. But I've noticed that whenever Rush plays "Freewill" in concert it's a highlight and always brings the audience to its feet.

Fair enough - I've yet to have the chance to attend a concert and was hitherto unaware of quite how popular it is. Thanks for letting me know!

I don't think I can come up with just ten.

Most of their first album, Making Memories, In the End, Side 2 of 2112, Circumstances, Different Strings, Witch Hunt, Vital Signs, most of Grace Under Pressure, and a ton of other songs that aren't coming to mind right now.

And the fact every rock radio station has Freewill on their rotation.

In chronological order:

A Farewell to Kings

Vital Signs

Digital Man

Losing It

Afterimage

Manhattan Project

Presto

Red Tide

Nobody's Hero

Wish Them Well

I'd say most of these rank as top-tier songs in my opinion, but just don't really seem to resonate all that well with others from what I've noticed.

I'm with you except for Witch Hunt which seems universally loved for reasons I don't know.

7. Between the Wheels

9. Making Memories

If anything, BTW is way over-rated. It's pretty much their most-celebrated synth song around here. I completely agree about Making Memories. Wish they'd find a way to play it live.

6) Coldfire

7) Entre Nous

8) Spindrift

9) War Paint

10) In The End

This is all relative to the idea that I've been hearing the same 6 Rush songs on the radio, and am the only hardcore Rush fan I personally know.

Need Some Love

Take a Friend

Best I Can

Making Memories

Lessons

Emotion Detector

Open Secrets

Second Nature

Anagram (for Mongo)

Red Tide

Hand Over Fist

Face Up

Neurotica

The Speed of Love

The Color of Right

Totem

Carve Away the Stone

Sweet Miracle

Nocturne

Bravest Face

Ok, so I just went for it and came up with a butt-load of Rush songs that are way underrated. Not going to explain them all, but gotta say that Need Some Love has the most ripping guitar solo over a riff that just pummels you relentlessly. I'm bummed that I never seem to hear anyone give that song some love.
