Yo yo

I know a Bruce but not Willis

He will burn you like syphilis

Like Geddy rocks on a 4-string

is hot like AlsGal in a G-string

He'll send you home -

Return to Sender

Listen to Geddy as he rocks the Fender

like an orgasm begins to come

Neil begins to drum

oh no here comes the drum solo

I wouldn't miss it as if its my last Rolo

Word.

Barney's in da house, wrecking your head,

he works under his own steam, he doesn't need no Fred.

Da rhymes run fresh, he harbours no stagnation,

coming from a place outside of our imagination.

Your Xanadu preferences he wants to discern,

your Rushian motivations are a matter of concern.

Like Rush's new world man, he's a rebel and a runner,

to the sisterhood I'll bet he's a top grade Class A stunner.

When you fall within his sights, you know he's gona get ya.

precise in his direction like the bass in Red Barchetta.

He's the Canadian standard, Toronto's Rush MC,

living in the limelight, saying "zed", not "zee".

Peace bro!

Let me drop the mic one more time

listen to Barney as he spits da rhyme

When he ryhmes he's in tha zone

rapping better than Roll the Bones

but just like him

he'll get busy with the facts

watch him go as he lays down the tracks

right order from Rush to Feedback

like Peart a story has been told

now Madra it's tha mic ya hold

Peace.

Damn yo....

y'all are just bustin my poetry right out of the water

these raps are well metered, im like a lamb put to slaughter

I feel like I'm watchin John Cena before a wrestling match

Bustin out rhymes, and talkin' 'bout Manny's latest catch bncegrn.gif

To Barney and Madra you have me at a loss

Very well matched, my decision is up in a toss

As to who is the better at 'wreckin da heads'

and 'spittin' da rhymes' as I lie sleepin in bed

So I give to you both a hearty BRAVO!!

You are both great masters of this Rapping Show applaudit.gif

(free verse poem)

Discovery

Hip-hop comes in many forms

I tell him

hip-hop will tell you stories

stories not just about a kid

...living in the ghetto

not just about bitches and hos

I say

I love my hip-hop

No one can be as smart

as Chuck D from PE

...rap really speaks the mind

Rock comes in many forms too

he tells me

rock is intelligent too

not all about drug addicts

...with long hair

banging their heads

He says

I love my Rush

Please borrow my tape

It is a concert

...one called 'Exit Stage Left'

For Garry (my first black-Canadian friend)

Yo that call was bogus

bullshit is all they showed us

'it's your fault, not my fault'

I just want to assault

each and every one of them

like the repubs verses dems

constant yelling I can longer take

just shut the f*ck up and your bullshit case

I just wanna lie down soon

on my bed and crank up a tune

now I want to mellow out yo

sounds of La Villa Strangiato

take my pulse to a slower pace

forget about my shitty workplace

Peace

Cartman you be by your member name sake

But Cartman you are by the actions you take

How dare you sully the names of my boys

In such a way that they are other boys toys?!!

You may have redeemed yourself slightly by saying

How ruling their music is that they're playing

But how can you preceed it by lines so sophmoric?

and sully my thread with poetry so moronic?

......you know I'm just joshin' you right AC? rofl3.gif

On September 11th this year, I saw my first Rush gig having been a fan for 22 years. It was a day of emotion for me, and I wanted to write something to commemorate it. While it was never mentioned at the gig, the fact that it was 9/11 seemed to hover in the background (with me, at any rate). In turn, that became part of the poem. The easiest part was comingh up with the name!!.

Emotional Feedback

1.

NEC

Within these walls are written tales

of reputations won and lost.

Here, silent echoes reverberate

where the masses gathered to hail heroes,

and sometimes wonder why old magic was not rekindled.

These walls look on impassively

while transient souls seek solace in sound

or vent frustration with shaking heads.

Many guitars have been played here,

some of wood and steel, but most of air.

Invisible sticks have beaten tattoos

on phantom snares and toms

conveniently hovering before the expectant masses.

This floor has moved with the force

of a million feet, some in time, some in a different dimension.

Once, 16 years ago, this hall bore witness

to A Show Of Hands.

Now, those echoes are reborn

in a new show of hands

two of which

are mine.

2.

September 11th 2004

On this day of realised ambition

my triumph is tempered by significance.

This date, momentous in history,

forever shackled with memory of death.

But here, in the midst of emotional feedback,

we affirm

life.

laugh.gif Madra, hon, that's quite alright for you to make such a commotion

I, for one, am on my way, and have set such things in motion

For it is not an easy feat to attain the rank of Prime Mover

And if I was in your very shoes, I'd really be a groover common001.gif

Barney's back like a squeeling tire

here to tell you about Hold Your Fire

if you listen to it from begining to end

first track you'll hear is Force Ten

before track two you'll get your thrill

you'll get that from Time Stand Still

Opens Secrets will begin the next track

It's Second Nature to run from attack

When you run you're a Prime Mover

Speeding from Toronto to Vancouver

You busted and need to plea

but you get jailed with a Lock and Key

next Mission is to escape from jail

Turn the Page and you get bail

Tai Shan will have a climb that's too steep

High Water will drown because it's deep

Madra my man, you've done it once more

And now a Prime Mover, you're ready to soar!

So please keep it coming, give us your verse

In styles many, on subjects diverse

And now in that vein, allow me to rhyme

Of experiences gone, in the mists of time

Fly By Night/In the Mood made quite an impression

I wanted to see, the trio in question

They made all that racket with only those three?

Now THIS was something I needed to see

"Hemispheres" the release the latest LP

To see it played live, would surely give glee

A concert was planned, arena was booked

But one detail could not be overlooked

To get Mom's permission, was my last dispute

Her arguments many I couldn't refute

"Because I said so, and 'cause you're too young!"

"Don't give me that look! Don't stick out your tongue!"

"Besides that boy Mattson, just cannot be trusted!"

So I sought to get out, but not to get busted

I'm outta here Ma! Now, what did you say?

I just didn't hear ya! There was no way!

With Mattson's loud car, and smoke belching forth

So in it we hopped, and headed due north.

The boys were en fuego they were unsurpassed

It just was too short, I wanted it to last.

They played Cygnus one and Cygnus Book two.

They played in La Villa, and of course Xanadu

There wasn't a classic, the boys wouldn't share

We also partook of much smoke in the air cool10.gif

I did later learn, they played "Radio"

It was pre-release and rarin' to go

Ah, for those days of cluelessly young

And innocence lost, and wisdom did come

From tales of battle between heart and mind

A balance is struck, and Cygnus we find

He keeps it all square he does it for free

For each of us now, he charges no fee
