Iron Maiden With Coheed And Cambria Absolutely

Dudes and Dudets!!!

I was in row E last night dead center for Coheed & Cambria and MAIDEN!

It was one of the best double bills I have ever seen in my life.

Probably the best one since Rush and Primus in 1991.

I don't think the old school Maiden crowd really got Coheed but a dork like me was in HEAVEN!!!!!

Speaking of Heaven Claudio Sanchez and the boyz played "Heaven And Hell" by Sabbath. It was OFF THE HOOK!!!

Strange to note: I actually saw Heaven And Hell on the same stage a few years ago in Mountain View California.

I know a lot of you on this Rush Prog Snob Forum HATE Coheed And Cambria but I fukking love them. RUSH JR! LOL!

I met Claudio once and we talked about our love for Rush. He's a cool cat with some bad ass lettuce on his head. Can sing and play the guitar. If your earholes just don't get it then hey, it's all good. Move on.

The apex of the C&C set for me was "Welcome Home."

I almost wanted to cream in my jeans when Claudio brought out the white double neck guitar. Very much like Lifeson's of course.

The son of a gun plays that double neck with his teeth and over his fukking head. It's a sight to be seen. I am sure you can YouBoob it. Haha!

As for IRON FUKKING MAIDEN they absolutely RULED!!

They are getting better with age and by playing the 1988 set list from the "Seventh Son" era was bloody brilliant!

Bruce may be an arrogant prick but damn his voice is still perfect.

I don't think Maiden will ever retire. Sort of like Rush however I must say that Maiden has a lot more energy than our boys from Canada.

I know it's probably taboo around here to compare Maiden to Rush but hey I think Maiden blows Rush away in today's current timeframe.

Fukking Maiden played "Phantom Of The Opera."

I was floating on a Paul Di'Anno cloud of angel dust. BLOWN AWAY!

When will Rush play something off of the first Rush album that isn't some stupid re-worked reggae version of "Working Man?"

As far as pure live energy is concerned Maiden blows modern Rush away.

Nicko is a fukking madman on the drums. He absolutely destroys Neil.

I am so pumped right now! Maybe someone on here need to slap my face!

I wonder if Maiden will ever do the "Iron Maiden" and "Killers" albums all the way through?

Maybe a "Number Of The Beast" Anniversary Tour and play a set list from fukkin' 1982!!!

How about a "Piece Of Mind" 2013 tour?

UP THE IRONS BITCHES!!!

I NEED A BEER!

Cheers!

Holy shit. So f*ckin' pumped for the show now. I get it in a couple weeks. This description gave me a f*ckin' hard-on 1022.gif 1022.gif

Unholy shit my friend you will have a hard on for two weeks then!!!!!

Sorry if I spoiled "Phantom" for you but I couldn't resist!! I was totally blown away!!!

I thought the "Final Frontier" Tour was crap! I hated the Alien Eddie walking around!

This tour goes back to the ultimate homage of nostalgic stage cheese at it's finest!!

Fukk! I should have driven up to Sacramento today to see the show again but I couldn't pull it off!!

Whoever the hell is marketing this tour's t-shirts should get a BONUS!!

The California Maiden shirt last night sold out in hours!! It's a picture of Eddie riding on top of a giant California Brown Bear totally destroying the Golden Gate Bridge!! EPIC!!

I was able to get a large even though I prefer XL!!

Maiden's Merch blows the KISS SHITE away!

MAIDEN RULES FOREVER!!!!!!!

They are the smartest band on the planet for doing these retro set list tours.

More bands should do it!!!

Hopefully Rush will do a "Hemispheres" album tour. Oh wait! Damn! Geddy can't sing that way anymore.

Bruce Dickinson was on FIRE last night.

He gave Halford a run for his money last night. Seriously.

Cheers!!!

"Seventh Son" has just started on my stereo.

For my ears and mind it was the last great Maiden record.

Many purist Maiden fans probably hated the synth stuff on some of the songs but I loved it.

SEVENTH SON MAIDEN = PROGRESSIVE MELODIC METAL!!!!! 1022.gif

Sounds like a great show! I'm a pretty new Maiden fan so I was hoping they'd play a show around here but they didn't. I also like what I've heard from C&C so it would have been cool to see them too.

Your mind will be blown away. Sometimes I wish that I could go back in time and discover Iron Maiden again or other bands that I obsess about.

I hunt down cds almost every day. Always searching for a band that I have never heard of that I will fall in love with hopefully.

I am such a whore but I make love with my ears. What an oxymoron I am.

Life is short! UP THE IRONS!! 1022.gif 1287.gif 1022.gif

I'm very glad I saw Alice Cooper instead of Coheed & Cambria. 062802puke_prv.gif

But Maiden didn't even need an opening act. They were worth every penny. Phenomenal performance.

My buddy called me up a couple of days ago and told me about these great seats so I instantly told him hell yes.

I thought that Cooper was also opening on the West Coast but of courses I was wrong.

Personally I was pumped to see C&C but man Alice would have been incredible too.

I saw Alice with Queensryche and Heaven And Hell and to be honest Alice sold the show!!

It would have been a win win for me.

"I LOVE THE DEAD!" I mean I LOVE IT ALL!

COHEED RULES! 1022.gif

C&C and Maiden is an awesome combo, but it still doesn't beat Maiden and Dream Theater (really wish I could have seen that). That said, I'm really looking forward to C&C's upcoming album! 1022.gif

Great revue Earl! I didn't go to this one (and I'm kicking myself now) because I was not familiar with Coheed and Cambria and I wasn't sure I wanted to go to the worst venue here in Denver anyway.

Maiden playing Phantom of the Opera would be too cool, sorry I missed that.

Nicko destroys Neil?

I know. I like McBrain too (although I think Burr was better) but let's not lose our heads here, Earl. smile.gif

Hahaha! I lost my rushhead for awhile!!

I agree about Burr. An incredible drummer! Totally underrated! His work on "Number Of The Beast" is legendary.

"The Prisoner" says it all. 1022.gif 1022.gif 1022.gif 1022.gif 1022.gif

I saw this show twice last month and it was incredible both times. I agree with you Earl that Maiden is a better live band now than Rush. A lot of that has to do with the fact that Bruce still sounds great and can hit the higher notes and sing the older stuff very well still. Unlike Geddy who's live voice is getting worse with each tour. I can't believe how good of shape Bruce is in for a 54 year old man. He runs around that stage and sings like it's nothing and never sounds like he never sounds out of breath and shows very few signs of vocally straining at all.

Now, I don't agree about Nicko being better than Neil. Nicko does a good job but you never really notice him when you're listening to Maiden. Everyone else's sound, at least for me anyways, is more front and center than Nicko's playing is. At least with Rush you always hear what Neil is doing and he never just fades into the backround.

Hey!!

Excellent post bud! It's all good! You have a good point about the Maiden drumming. Even as a drummer I too catch myself tuning out the drums and focusing on Bruce and of course Adrian and Dave!!

To this day I will never understand why the hell the band decided to keep Janick Gers in the band since 1990. They don't need him!!!!

Do you agree?

Yeah, Jannick is useless. That's been talked about a few times on here in the Official Iron Maiden thread. I don't believe that Jannick's guitar is even turned on during some songs. You look over and see him strumming something but you hear no sound coming from it. But he's friends with Bruce and that's how he got and continues to keep the job.

Too bad you didn't get to see them with Cooper because he was great and that tour combo was awesome. Alice dropped off because he had shows booked in Europe that conflicted with the rest of the Maiden tour. I don't care much for C&C, mainly because I can't stand the singer. To me this was one of the most uneven opener tradeoffs ever.

Hahahaha! Many people rip on Claudio's vocals! It's ironic that many people hate Rush because of Geddy's vocals!

I am one of the few who truly loves C&C. If I had to complain about anything about the band it wouldn't be Claudio's voice. It would be how most of the songs all sound the same. Then again I guess you could label TOOL for doing the same thing. Redundant killer riffs just repeating endlessly.

I had a feeling Alice had to hit Europe or somewhere for his own tour.

I love Alice too. It would have been a win win for me either way though!!!

I really don't like Cooper's new record. Did he play some new songs on this tour?

Yeah Jannick is a TOOL to be honest!! I just tuned him out during the show.

I'm not ripping the guy for being a bad guitarist it's just pointless to have him in the band with the twin guitar attack of Smith and Murray! LEGENDS!

That would be like Judas Priest adding a third guitar player now that KK is gone.

What's that college word? Oh yeah, "superfluous!"

No Cooper didn't play any songs off the new album when he opened for Maiden. I'm not a big fan of it either so I didn't mind.

His set was:

The Black Widow

Brutal Planet

I'm Eighteen

No More Mr. Nice Guy

Hey Stoopid

Billion Dollar Babies

Feed My Frankenstein

Poison

Wicked Young Man (Alice gets decapitatied by guillotine at the end)

I Love The Dead

School's Out
