I've been getting a lot of music over the past few months (out of boredom and a surplus of summer spending money from my room and board refund), so I won't list all of it, but here's one that's notable that just came in the mail:

Green Day - Father Of All...

Just over 6 bucks on vinyl from Amazon. I don't get the hate, but at this price I'll take it, lol. :dweez:

nice but they are paper copies

What's wrong with paper sleeves? It's how vinyl is stored, why not CDs?

So should I buy each disc for $10+ each for albums I'm not 100% over the moon with? I already owned Counterparts and Vapor Trails Remixed. I was just wanting to round out my collection with newly remastered takes of some less beloved albums. I heard the new discs sounded better so I went with the convenient/cheap option. Sue me.

I rip every CD I own so I have FLAC copies of every album. But that's only 98% as good as vinyl.

For me, collecting vinyl (or any physical format) has nothing to do with sound quality. I've never really had a problem with mp3s and streaming, they sound fine to me and you can't beat their convenience. I rip all my CDs and convert all my records to mp3 so I can put them on my iPod and take them wherever in my pocket.

Now why in the world would I want Van Halen III on vinyl? lol I don't even want that in my Spotify recommendations.

On the matter of Hot Space, I did see it on vinyl once at a record store about 3 or 4 years ago, but passed it up because I wasn't looking to spend that much money that day.

Van Halen III was on vinyl but you'll never find it... not many people bought that album anyway

If you like the singles you'll like the album. I wouldn't call it one of their greatest achievements or anything, but it's really apples and oranges with the rest of their material.

Four awesome new vinyl records as an early birthday present from my parents since I'll be headed back to school in a couple days:

All albums came from a larger wish list of things that are normally out of my price range when shopping for myself and/or are hard to find. The Opeth album made my list on recommendation from Treeduck. And Pendragon made my list on recommendation from Mick. Caravan I've been wanting to get for a long long time, and as long as I've been a Dream Theater fan I've wanted something of theirs on vinyl. Very very happy with these gifts! :)

My dad's friend from work gifted me a whole lot of records!

In no particular order but the one they're sitting in:

Fleetwood Mac - Fleetwood Mac

ABBA - Super Trouper

REO Speedwagon - Lost In A Dream

Pink Floyd - Animals

Yes - 90125

Paul McCarntey - McCartney

Be interested in your takes on those albums.

I was well acquainted with Animals and 90125 already. some of my favorite albums. I didn't get a chance to listen to Super Trouper before I went back to school with a fraction of my records in tow. Lost In A Dream is definitely a 70s album, but nothing else really stood out to me about it. McCartney is a wild ride through seemingly dozens of interesting ideas, all just sketched and sequenced as haphazardly as possible. I enjoyed it. Fleetwood Mac's self titled was quite a bit softer than I expected, but I still liked it quite a bit, though Rumors has it beat.

I started my collection in high school just from my allowance and from birthdays and Christmas. Everyone has to make that first step somehow.

After you listen to that stuff don't forget to come back and tell us how much better they sound on vinyl and how those who listen to music in any other format are beneath you and aren't listening to music the proper way.
