Picked up Wincing the Night Away by The Shins on a recommendation.

I'm actually not that impressed. It's not bad, it's just not really my thing. confused13.gif

Velvet Underground-Squeeze (on vinyl)

It's Doug Yule's masterpiece! laugh.gif

It's not really that bad. Thinking of it as Doug Yule's solo album, it's kind of boring at worst - like much of Loaded, and Lou Reed's self-titled release.

How could you compare Squeeze to Loaded? The only song that was halfway decent was Little Jack

Loaded's a bit of a transition from the self-titled Velvet Underground album (which is a favourite of mine, definitely check that out if you haven't already) to Squeeze in style, though the songs are written by Reed instead of Yule - half of the tunes are sung by Yule, however. A few of the Reed-sung tunes on the album have become classics in their own right, especially "Sweet Jane", and the album at least sounds a lot better than Squeeze. I'm not too crazy about it, but if you were enough of a Velvet Underground completist to get Squeeze you may as well hear Loaded.
