So how is it?

I liked it. Virgil Donati and Derek Sherinian are great musicians.

Have you heard 2116 off Universe? The friggin' meter is 21/16! I have tried to count it out but it is near impossible....for me.

I haven't heard it yet, but I plan on getting that album soon. I've never heard of any other band playing in 21/16. Sounds good!

The Dear Hunter - The Color Spectrum

36 songs, broken down into 9 EPs, each depicting a different "color" by means of switching musical styles, instrumentation, and musicians with only singer/writer/guitarist/pianist/orchestrator Casey Crescenzo staying consistent.

This magnum opus of an album has catapulted this band into one of my all-time favorites. Not to mention they are insanely good live. I urge anyone who is looking for something artistic, exciting, diverse, and truly progressive (but not prog, if you know what I mean) to check this band out. I have not been able to listen to anything else for a month besides this album. It's THAT good. They have an abbreviated LP version with 11 songs chosen from the various EPs, so that's a good introduction to the band/album.

They also have a running concept which has produced three albums, entitled Acts I-II-III, which will extend to Act IV-V-VI in the coming years.

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE BAND!
