Pink Floyd - The Final Cut

This album IS depressing eh.gif

Agreed. I have come to the conclusion that Roger Waters is a whiney little bitch.

It's a shame Floyd was never the same after he left.

I love this album, my favourite Floyd album. There's a few of us out there.

I think it contains Water's best lyrics.

They disembarked in 45,

and no one spoke and no one smiled,

there were too many spaces in the line.

Gathered at the cenotaph,

all agreed with hand on heart

to shield the sacrificial knives.

But now,

she's standing on Southampton dock,

with her handkerchief, and summer frock

clings to her wet body in the rain.

In quiet desperation, knuckles

white against the slippery reins,

she bravely waves the boys goodbye again.

And still the dark stain spreads between

his shoulder blades.

A mute reminder of the poppy fields and graves.

And when the fight was over

we spent what they had made.

But in the bottom of our hearts

we felt the final cut.

To me that's just bloody marvellous.

I really like The Final Cut, actually, and I was expecting to hate it.

Oh, I downloaded the new Coldplay single, "Violet Hill". I wasn't going to bother, but I heard it on the radio and it rocks. Very different from everything else they've done; you can hear how Eno has been challenging them. Vaguely reminiscent of The Hooters.

It's not my favorite, but I do like it. It's just very depressing. It's an album that can't be listened to every day.

You're right. I played it every day when I was 16. Which explains a lot!!
