I bought all the songs on Neil's house mix I didn't have already (Jeff Buckley, Tragically Hip, Jethro Tull, et al). The Robert Plant/Alison Krauss album, it's pretty good. Been getting into The Mars Volta and Porcupine Tree (a few years behind everyone else, I know). Still listen to the latest Foo Fighters quite a bit.

^^VERY nice MH. trink39.gif

Thanks, which one though? laugh.gif

It'd be very suprised if Portishead were known accross the pond. Tago Mago is an SACD, so I'm hoping it'll be surround, but if not, the sound should still be great!

Haha, well I mostly mean Tago Mago when I say very nice. I actually have Dummy on my PC, but haven't listened to it yet... I'd say it's quite a popular album at this other forum I go to... well at least a few people praise it a lot... it's considered a prime example of 'trip-hop' from what I've read. I've also listened to Massive Attack's Blue Lines, but it didn't do much for me.

I have the SACD/remastered edition of Tago Mago but I don't own a SACD player... I can assure you though that the sound is prime quality. The sound effects on that album blow my mind for 1971!

Also, cheers to Kudzu for getting more R.E.M. They're one of my top 5 bands of all time for sure...

Up is quite different for them... I rarely listen to it... when I do, I find there are a few gems on there, but it's such a long album... I also read about Radiohead citing that album as an influence for Kid A and I agree for the most part. Both albums, on certain tracks, have similar moods to them.

I have accumulated many new things in the past months...

The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators

Flogging Molly - Float

Monterey Pop Festival (2 Disc Compilation)

Janis Joplin - Greatest Hits

The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society

Love - Forever Changes

Kansas - Two for the Show (Live....BOMB show! 1022.gif )

The Byrds - 20 Essential Tracks from the Box Set: 1965-1990

The Worst of Jefferson Airplane

John Lennon - Legend

R.E.M. - Accelerate

And finally...

Muse - HAARP

...love it but I could deal without the annoying screaming girl throughout the show, kinda ruins it for me sad.gif

"Airportman", "Hope", and "The Apologist" particularly echo on Kid A.

I think Up is a few songs too long; the last three songs don't really do much for me, and "Suspicion" is dull and "Lotus" is just plain bad; however, I love how different it is, and songs like "Hope", "At My Most Beautiful", "Sad Professor", and "Daysleeper" rank among the best I've heard from R.E.M.

Still waiting on Automatic for the People and expecting New Adventures in Hi-Fi now too.
