Lost In Xanadu Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 After Casino, I wasn't too big on this new Bond. Mainly because I really liked PB. After QoS - he is really starting to grow on me. I am looking forward to this movie. Plus that intro in the Olympics... that was smashing, baby!

CaressOfKrieger Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) Seeing the midnight premiere tonight! This will be my first time ever seeing a Bond film on the big screen :D And for the record, I must be one of the few people who actually liked Quantum of Solace Edited November 9, 2012 by CaressOfKrieger
Good, bad, andrush Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I enjoyed quantum of Solace, and Skyfall I enjoyed a lot but it is a very unique and strange bond film. It feels like it's missing something, but without spoiling anything, this is the film where he gains everything...
Lost In Xanadu Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Saw it this weekend, I very much enjoyed it. There was a lot about this movie that seemed familiar. The "rogue agent" was recently done in GoldenEye. Bond dying and coming back has been done before.... Anyone that didn't see M's death coming sure wasn't paying attention. There was quite a bit of foreshadowing.
Del_Duio Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Saw it yesterday. Very very awesome, at least as good as Casino Royale in my book. I'm glad it's doing so well money-wise, the franchise deserves it. I agree with Good,Bad,and Rush in that the pacing is definitely different. For example I don't think you even see the "bad guy" until halfway through the film. One hell of a payoff in the 3rd act though, wow I was really impressed.
workingcinderellaman Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 My favorite of the Daniel Craig movies.
Lost In Xanadu Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 My favorite of the Daniel Craig movies. I agree - I really liked Casino Royale, but I think just because I liked PB so much, I didn't really buy Craig as Bond. In QoS - I really liked his character more, maybe because I was now used to him as Bond - not sure, but the story really wasn't as good.

I enjoyed Quantum more when I saw it and I'm sure it was because I knew what I was going to get. I’m a huge Bond fan and I really miss the dry humor of the older movies of Connery and Moore. The Bond movie franchise occupied a unique niche of humor/action that other action movies didn’t have. The Craig movies use a different formula that’s similar to other action movies. I really liked the way Skyfall tried to get back to the Bond formula at the end by introducing Moneypenny. I’m excited to see the next one.

I agree - I thought early on that Moneypenny was bad, I thought she shot Bond on purpose. Turned out I had the right idea - just aimed at the wrong character
Tom Sawyer Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 saw it last weekend, very interesting and different, I liked it alot. Kept my attention, (and I was just waking up, saw the earliest showing) all the way. *bit-o-trivia, this is the first Bond film I have seen in the theater in 35 years, last one went to see in theater was TSWLM.
USB Connector Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 My favourite bond so far --- haven't seen many mind you. I still haven't gotten around to seeing Goldeneye. Easily my favourite so far, especially the end where it keeps hinting at bringing back the older style of bond. Here's hoping that they bring back the gadgets and humor with the next. Personally I'm glad they didn't with Craig because he doesn't seem like the type that would fit with that. I'm looking forward to the future of bond. I'm particularly glad they pulled this off after that steaming turd that was Quantum.

The only one I've seen is From Russia with Love. That was a long time ago and I don't think I was able to fully appreciate it then. I'm in the process of tracking down the Bond 50 box set so I figure it won't be long before I'll have watched the rest. :) Edited January 24, 2013 by USB Connector
Tom Sawyer Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Bought this (er, the wife did) on Amazon streamed it twice in the last two weeks, it's good, and I'm not even sure why.

From an objective point of view, some movies are classic and surreal and simply treasure of cinema, and others are parodies of this. However, if you can actually just sit down and enjoy each one for what it is, suspend disbelief (sometimes more than expected), and just relax, you'll find Bond has so much to offer. So much, more than anything else. People loving some films and hating the others is part of the package, and that's why I personally love them all :)
Good, bad, andrush Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I just saw Quantum of Solace again and I remember disliking it (or liking it but not as much as others) and I think this film is simply a bridge between this and the marvelous Casino Royale. All three films show how Bond becomes Bond, so they're essentially. In Quantum he's so cold, but the plot is not really that bad, nor is Craig's acting. But he ends up realizing the error of his ways and builds trust with M, which is what Skyfall is all about.
MaxxQ Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Saw Skyfall this past weekend. Bought it, as well as the Bond 50 BluRay set. Been watching one movie per night since Monday, followed by the bonus features for each film. Lots of fun to watch, especially Thunderball tonight, as I've only ever seen that one twice before a couple decades ago. I can't comment on QoS, since it's the only Bond film I have not seen yet, but I though CR was good and Skyfall was... different. Definitely not the Bond I grew up watching, but still very good. First Bond film I ever saw in the theater was The Man With the Golden Gun (I was not quite 10 years old), so I have a soft spot for Moore's Bond. That said, I also think that Connery was the best, and Lazenby was the worst. I'm one of the few I know of that kinda liked the darker direction Dalton took Bond, although it was hard to not keep picturing him as Prince Barin from Flash Gordon. Moore was getting a bit too campy with the last couple films he did, so making Bond a little more serious with Dalton was a nice change. Brosnan was a decent mix of the camp of Moore and the seriousness of Dalton, but Connery just always seemed to pull it off better than anyone. Again, I like the darker, more serious direction Craig has taken the character, but I think there needs to be just a tiny bit more (very dry) humor.
