jwoods89
Do you think Clockwork Angels is one of those albums that takes some time to warm up to? I have listened to the majority of the songs so far and none of them really hit me in the face as some of their other stuff, but I am just thinking that maybe it will take some time to grow on me perhaps? I recently listened to S&A after a few months and that album hit me like a ton of bricks for some reason and now I really, really like it a lot. rushgoober
Can't really answer the questions as everyone's experience is different. I loved it almost immediately. Usually, if anything with newer Rush albums my opinion drops over time, doesn't go up. FBN & COS went up, but that took many years. If you're not digging it, it's probably not a great sign, but as you even said with S&A it had to grow on you. I'd recommend not listening for awhile and give it some time/space and then try again. jwoods89
Listening to Headlong Flight for the first time and I gotta say I love it a lot. The songs that stand out the most to me are probably Caravan, BU2B, Headlong Flight, The Wreckers, and Halo Effect, though there are still a few songs I haven't heard yet but will be hearing within the next 30 minutes. You never know, it may grow on ya. You have to give it time, and multiple listens. I've found that the songs which seem catchy and accessible on first listen usually don't fare well over time with me. On the other hand, songs which are more dense and complex, and to which I feel no immediate connection, turn out to be favorites in the long run. For me it's a strong ballad right up till the piano section. That part comes off as a tad cheesy to me.

GeddyRulz
It's not the album, it's the listener. What I mean is: an album is an album, but each listener will react differently to it. One Rush fan's "grower" album is the same album which another fan loves from the very first listen. With CA, I loved it right away and still do. Some fans feel the same as I do, while others report that it had to "grow" on them. It's not the album, it's the listener.
