I am trying to stick to actual studio recordings, there are live compilations that several bands...cough(Dream Theater)cough(Phish)cough..... have where it is live covers, so I am discounting those..

There are also several records where you have multiple artists covering the music of one artist... I am not counting those either... I am trying to stay to the One artist's albums where they cover multiple artists...EPs or LPs I also want to avoid "Tribute" albums Orchestra/String/Bluegrass Tributes to one artists...so I am not counting those as well (sorry California Guitar Trio... you're amazing, but I cannot count you)

I was a bit apprehensive about putting the Scorpions "Comeblack" on there, 2/3 of the album is just re-recordings of their own stuff.. but there was enough covers on there to warrant it's inclusion I think..

That's all I could think of, but I put an "other" option in there If you wish and could think of one I did not.

I almost put Led Zeppelin 1 on here as well.. (I would have counted) as a joke, but avoided it.

I voted for the Jordan Rudess... I love that record, he does a great job with the covers..

Of the ones listed, definitely David Bowie - Pin Ups

Better than that even is KD Lang - Hymns of the 49th Parallel, consisting of covers of Canadian artists (sorry, no Rush, but there is Neil Young & Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, etc.) wub.gif

Honestly, I haven't heard most of these albums, but I'm voting Metallica because of Garage Days Revisited, Re-revisited and the Justice Era covers on disc 2 of Garage Inc, not to mention the overall hugeness and scope of the over all release, handful of disc 1 turds aside.

My vote goes to "Dub Side Of The Moon" by The Easy Star Allstars. In theory a dub reggae version of this Pink Floyd classic album should be a disaster but I love it almost as much as the real thing.

If only we had the sunshine to go with it.

Def Leppard - Yeah! It's an album of primarily 70s glam rock covers. Very entertaining if you like either DL or stuff like David Bowie and T. Rex.

Honorable mention goes to Van Halen - Diver Down (Where Have All the Good Times Gone, (Oh) Pretty Woman, Dancing in the Streets, Big Bad Bill is Sweet William Now and Happy Trails biggrin.gif )

Bob Dylan - Good As I Been To You

edit:

Ok, I'm waking up now.....

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Kicking Against The Pricks

Anyone of Johnny Cash's American Recordings

Bryan Ferry - These Foolish Things
