So far none of you negative nancys haven't done that.

I am astounded that anyone would even consider using the word "masterpiece" with this album. It is an incremental improvement over the last two albums.

Because:

 

 

You just don't get it.

Man, this album really is a masterpiece.

 

Could be the best Rush ever put out...maybe

I believe you were, and are, on the money. It is quite beyond anything we were hoping for...it is endlessly listenable...with or without a story line.

This is what the Seattle Intelligencer had say about the status of Clockwork Angels:

 

If it's not the best album of the year, I really want to hear the other contenders for the throne.

 

Further, I wonder if Clockwork Angels will ultimately be measured against other concept albums from the '60s to the present and be found one of a very august company 1022.gif

The album has poor production quality, but the first time I heard it was on my speaker system in my room at full blast. It didn't sound too bad like others were saying, and then I listened to it on my headphones and figured out why so many were complaining. It definitely sounds better in an open area in my opinion, and I think it makes some of the issues disappear. Not all of them though... I absolutely LOVE this album regardless, and plus its one of their best albums in years... Edited by pfrushfan0122

This album would sound good coming out of the arse end of an elephant.

 

The production is outstanding...Nick did a fantastic job by creating the best album since PeWaves...no album has been this ambitious and musically satisfying...

 

I do buy the headphone statement though...nicely put trink39.gif

Clockwork Angels I would classify as a "Top Notch" album and one of their best, easily the best of their latter career.....(horrible mixing issues aside)

 

But I reserve the term "Masterpiece" for records like "Sgt. Pepper", "Selling England by The Pound" "Wish You Were Here", "Heaven and Hell" all the records from "2112"-"Moving Pictures" "Close to the Edge"...etc. And as much as I like the new album, I just cant put Clockwork Angels in that same echelon.
