Hell ... not even Moving Pictures is better than Grace Under Pressure ...

(including Body Electric ... I always thought Red Lenses was the most unpopular song on GUP - both stellar tracks, anyway).

With Power Windows, it's tougher. CA might at least be on par with that one, although it lacks a moment like Marathon. It has Headlong Flight, though ...

To stick to the Eighties: signals is slightly better than CA, Hold Your Fire would be with a sound less dated. Presto, then, is a favourite of mine, so I'd rate it slightly above CA (and yes, I like both Anagram and Superconductor, as I love 7 out of of 12 CA songs).

Just my two cents ...

GUP is the second strongest of the synth albums:

1. Signals

2. Grace Under Pressure

3. Hold Your Fire (would be #1 or #2 if not for the last two songs)

4. Power Windows

Why on earth would anyone put down GUP? It's a great, solid, classic album all the way through. One of their best! yes.gif new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

As I was saying earlier, the songs aren't "bad," but neither are they very good, in my opinion. There isn't a single song on the album - not one - which makes me want to hear it... so I never play the album anymore. (It was the last album from the back catalog which I replaced with a CD; there was no urgency to get the disc just to have it sit on my shelf.)

RTB, which I dislike even more than GUP overall, at least has the awesome "Dreamline." GUP has nothing I really care to hear, just a bunch of "okay" songs.

Pull your #2 and place it last, and you have my list:

1. Signals

2. Hold Your Fire (would be #1 if not for the last two songs)

3. Power Windows

4. Grace Under Pressure

Hold Your Fire ( I agree, this would have been higher if it weren't for the last two tracks)

I guess I'll split the difference here. I think some of GUP's tunes are among the band's very best, but I wouldn't be particularly distraught if I couldn't listen to the other few ever again.

As for the synth-era album rankings, I'll go...

1) Signals (one of my favorite Rush records)

2) Grace Under Pressure (cracks the top ten)

3) Hold Your Fire (I like the last two tunes, but not Prime Mover or Turn the Page)

4) Power Windows (062802puke_prv.gif)

Interesting to see that classic 2.gif is in the lead by about a 5% margin on the poll. While I tend to see PoW as a little soft, it is cool to see that you wiser fans can appreciate it.

Huh? Your assessment of the results is a bit off.

At this moment, 32.35% say both "old" Rush albums are better than CA, while a total of 62.65% think CA is better than GUP or PoW or both!

All the 80's albums are awesome in their own way. However, only MP is better than CA.

Neither. Simple as that. But the best since Hold Your Fire. I can say that with confidence (as I did with Snakes and Arrows LOL so I guess since Snakes and Arrows LMAO).
