TheAccountant
QUOTE (DistantEarlyRushFan @ Jun 25 2012, 02:52 PM)After listening to Counterparts closely, I have determined that strong tracks like Double Agent and Alien Shore don't make up for the presence of weak tracks like Nobody's Hero and Everyday Glory. This is a hard poll to respond to in the first place and your comments about Counterparts sort of confuse me even before I started thinking about the actual question. Its clearly a matter of taste. I agree that Alien Shore is a strong track but Nobody's Hero and Everyday Glory weak tracks?? Nobody's Hero is good and Everyday Glory very good (IMO). Plus, I respectfully have to disagree about Double Agent. IMO that is one of the weaker songs on the album. Trying to compare CA to Power Windows and GUP is hard without being confused by your position on Counterparts. That being said I would have to say, and I preface this by saying I have only had the time to listen to CA 5 times so far, (want to listen to it more but just can't seem to find / make the time) that IMO its not as good as Power Windows. Grace Under Pressure is hard to compare it to but at the moment my vote would be no, CA is not as good. After another 5 - 7 listens perhaps my opinion will change. GeddyLeeRoth
CA is too new to sufficiently try to rank it with the rest of the Rush catalog right now, but if I had to it would be #10, with PoW at #7 and GUP #6.

Steely Caress
Too many years and listens to GUP and POW to decide, my hunch is CA is not better, though I like CA a lot. Ask me in 6-12 months.
jdouglas
QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 25 2012, 02:58 PM) It's better than Grace Under Pressure which has some tunes that don't appeal to me so much like The Body Electric, Red Lenses and The Enemy Within... The body electric is one of Alex's best solos from the 80s. I don't think there is a bad song on GUP really. PW is a tad light for my taste in parts... Still, meh on the new album...Its in my car CD and I'm only on song 5...hoping for some better songs in the remaining bunch. On a side note, I really like the last song on my fav headache, just heard that is week. That's a good song.

Presto-digitation
Probably better than Power Windows to me, although I really dig that album. Perhaps not as good as Grace Under Pressure, though. I have an abnormal fondness for that record.
