Been turning it up and down all the time in between sections... However, I ripped it into Itunes and popped it onto my iPod and that seems to have improved things as far as "too loud" and losing the vocals goes... The bass has also been pushed back a little... Obviously it has reduced the overall quality but that's what I'll be listening to CA on for the forseeable.... Shouldn't have to do this though..... That is going to stop producing albums! I don't think they'll stop making albums if we complain about sound quality. They'll stop when they don't have the fire and desire to see what they can come up with next. If hearing people complain about them was going to stop them they would have hung it up longgggg ago. I had said in another post that it's possibly both the mix and the master that needed to be reviewed before going to press. I have been turning the volume up say at the start of The Garden to hear the strings and then having to turn it down when the guitar kicks in as it's just too loud to listen comfortably... The same guitar passage later in the song is not as loud. Same with the vocals on The Anarchist... the intro is perfect but then you have to turn up past what's comfortable for the lyrics.... Dynamic ?? Not so sure. More like annoying. But these are small things in the overall context. I'll EQ it myself so the extremes are taken out for my delicate 45yr old ears... hoerstle Posted June 14, 2012 Share Posted June 14, 2012 (edited) well i think the beginning is just quieter because it's the intro. but apart from that, the sound of the garden is quiet dynamic: the verses are quieter than the choruses and after the bridge it definetly gets louder when the solo begins and the whole band kicks in. the anarchist: i don't think that the guitars are louder in the intro, i think the voice in the verse just distracts you from the instruments. well but thats just how i see it and to be honest, i am definetly no expert on that subject^^ apologies for my bad english, i am no native speaker. analog guy Posted June 15, 2012 Share Posted June 15, 2012 Well, I don't really want to stoke the fire (of the big steel wheels), but I found my opinion becoming more negative over the last day or two. I've started playing the album in my car. And for whatever reason, I just cannot get it to sound good there. Suddenly the bass is just overwhelming... I've had to drop the bass knob to -2 or -3 and even then it has distorting issues on my system. My first listening experiences were in my den with headphones. It was much more positive. I didn't really notice much of a difference until the instrumental section. Everything is SO clear on that version, but when I played the album version it sounded like all of the instruments (except the snare, which really pops) where played through some kind of filter.
