Made it to the top stands for the hike all the way up to Half-dome....18 miles round trip, and 11 hrs total.. (10 hrs for the hike, and 1 hr on the top of the mt., to rest and eat.If you don't do that,you'll never make it back down before dark.You'll be dead on your feet.)) a total elevation gain of 4,800 ft. I did this a few yrs. back. I've been wanting to go back ever since. The most grueling frickin' hike I've done in my life. (and I've done a few.) the view from the top of H.D. is flippin' unbelievable. It's got to be seen to be believed.... It's worth every min. of the hike to see. Go to You-tube and punch in " Yosemite N.P.--mist-trail" or "half dome hike" to see the view from the top. My other choice would be "RUSH RULES THE UNIVERSE!!!!" ...nuff said on that one.
