I never advocate sitting while holding floor seats.

Well, if your Holding them, how are you going to Sit ?

That's a very, very good point biggrin.gif

You ever heard the joke George Carlin had about the airline safety announcements? "They tell me to put my seat back forward. Well, I don't bend that way! If I could put my seat back forward, I'd be in porno movies!"

Stewardess: OK, you may now get on the plane.

Carlin: Get "on" the plane? f**k YOU! I'm getting IN the plane!!

Yeah, I really miss George's comical reality check...I watch his videos when I'm down for a quick mood lifter...the laughter works every time!! z7shysterical.gif

Okay, I got a question for everyone that somewhat relates to this topic. This 45 year-old female die-hard fan is going to her first two shows in September. (yeah, better late than never!) Man, I can't wait!! I'm worried that I won't have the energy to jump around and go crazy for the entire show and "wipe out" from exhaustion unless I take a break and sit for the "slower songs". As I'm doing two shows solo within two days with considerable drive time involved to get down to the Indy show from Madison (about 7 hours on Wednesday, with the show on Thursday) Just looking for any recommendations or survival ideas/hints for this Rush concert "newbie"....yes, I purchased the Hearos Fidelity earplugs this time (see below). With VIP tix, I'm not sure though where I'll end up sitting/standing. I plan to make signs as well.

FYI, the last concert I saw was Phil Collins back in '04 at the old Spectrum in Philly so it's been awhile. At that show, I was in the lower right bowl section 113 and could see everything while still seated. However, I didn't use earplugs so my ears were ringing for several days straight afterwards!

Survival ideas? Um... don't drive through any bad neighborhoods on your way to the show? Don't wear a shirt that says "Please shoot me" on it? Don't give your wallet to a random stranger?

Stand when you want to stand, sit when you need to sit. Wear comfortable shoes biggrin.gif

This thread keeps getting in the way.

I'm going to pour beer on it.

Not on my brand new Rush Clockwork Angels Tour T-Shirt you don't!

Now for the last time, get back in your seat, fold your hands politely and please refrain from moving or making any noise until after the encore.

Everyone as a collective unit would probably see better and be more comfortable if everyone would stay seated.

But this is all just a pipe dream, just like in school when everybody said they would fail the test on purpose so that way everyone would pass on the curve. Its something that will never happen, because it just takes one person to stand up and then suddenly everyone is standing.

The view always looks great before everyone stands up. When they do stand up I feel like a sardine that has to stand on their tippy toes for 3 hours.

When I saw Dream Theater, miraculously enough, everyone stayed seated during the opening act and it WAS FANTASTIC. It was comfortably and the view was perfect.

In short everyone should just sit down and enjoy the show.

I think another major problem is people holding their damn Iphone over their head right front of my face for the whole 2 hour concert blocking my view. God that's annoying. I don't mind them getting 30 seconds to have sentimental value, but recording the whole damn concert is unnecessary.

This is the third thread about standing vs. sitting in the past three weeks. Each of the other times, amid all the insults that people throw at each other, it boils down to: just don't be a jerk about standing or sitting at the show. Go with the flow.

No Kidding!

I deliberately sit on the floor every RUSH show, cause I know everyone around me will stand the whole show. Sitting in the lower or upper bowls, people sit. And I just refuse to sit.

It's a ROCK CONCERT people, not a Broadway show. Stand up.

While I can understand both sides, I am definitely with you here Dude.

I'm a "stander" at rock concerts...especially Rush. That's why only floor seats will do for me now.

I'm with you on that. I'd like to see that go away, it's gotten really out of hand.

The two shows that I was at everybody stood for the first two songs and then sat down for the rest of the set. Same with the second set and during the encore.

BTW...thought I should clarify. That emoticon is not a knock at your post, but rather how I've been to shows like that, and it looks like the crowd is sleepy and un-interested.

This was REALLY a problem for me a few weeks ago when I saw Van Halen. There was one guy who kept putting his f-ing phone up and I captured it in nearly every picture I took. My camera has a few second delay after you snap the pic, so although I thought I had beaten the phone up in the air, by the time my pic actually took his hand was in there. I was able to move down quite a bit to get some good shots, but the phones and people waving their arms in the air were a real pain in the ass for a short person tongue.gif

rock shows just aren't safe anymore, what with cellular phones all over the place and such...

Not less safe, just a lot dorkier. Besides, you can't light someone's hair on fire with an iphone. schla03.gif
