Buddy Rich is in. I listened to Strike it Rich, Take 3 on Spotify.

He blows Peart out of the water. I am now officially able to see this. I love his drumming.

Buddy Rich blows EVERY drummer out of the water, regardless of genre, and regardless who one's "favorite" drummer might be. Buddy was simply the greatest drummer who ever lived.

The question is what is everyone doing in the water? confused13.gif

And why does it take Buddy to blow them out? What are they waiting for?

Hey everyone get out of that water before Buddy blows you out!

Yeah, who does he think he is goin around failing at drumming when there's a legend like Buddy Rich that most folks don't know or remember. The least Peart could do is give him some props' as the titan he was.

I mean Peart should be burning for Buddy! sarcasm.gif

It's cool that new generations of listeners are getting exposure to the giants of that era. Peart is ridiculously good at using what he's gotten by practice and hard work, but Rich was gifted from the gods.

Keep learning, keep growing. It's a fun ride! cool.gif

Buddy inspired that scene in "Jaws" when the guy was in the shark tower on the beach: "Everyone get out of the water!"

Interestingly enough, Justin Bieber's musical career (if it could be said to get everyone out of the water as well) inspired this scene...

Is Buddy Rich also a bigger a-hole than Neil Peart?  unsure.gif

Well, Buddy was known to have aggressive outbursts at times.

Hearing these never gets old..

I actually agree with you Jim.

There is no doubt about.

My grandparents were lucky enough to see Buddy a few times live.

I remember making my grandparents listen to the drum solo by Neil on "Exit Stage Left." They were very impressed but they both told me that no one will ever come close to Buddy Rich. Hell I was only 14 at the time.

Absolutely. I saw buddy do a solo live in 1984 that left me speechless. Simply the fastest and most tactful drummer I've seen to date. Many people have approached me over the years saying "Keith Moon was the fastest drummer in the world" and I had to let them know Buddy made all the other drummers look like they're in slow motion. No joke. That cat was fast!!!
