Walking/hiking
Cooking (and eating!)

laugh.gif The eating part is the best part of the cooking part!

As for hiking... this area is so beautiful, right? So many opportunities to do a number of outdoor activities in the most gorgeous environment.

Absolutely! We took a nice walk around Theler Wetlands on the Hood Canal a few weeks ago. Hope to do a few day hikes this summer.

Oh, I love to take pictures, too! Here's the ones I took on our walk: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3...=3&l=7091eed2c5

Photography (big time, I love snapping photos)

What kind of camera do you have?

Well, I wish I had something professional but right now I'm just using a Cannon PowerShot. It does an ok job.

Both kids should be in school full-time this fall so I'm praying to use the extra time to dive into photography. Any suggestions for a top-notch professional camera?

I've been very lucky and somehow managed to turn all my "hobbies" into working careers.

Drumming

Audio Production (live & studio)

Live Production & Stage Management

Pyrotechnics / Explosives

Lighting Engineer

Web Design

Decided long ago to work hard and make a living at the things I'm passionate about. I have a feeling more people would be happy if they took this approach. Again, I was just lucky.

I have a Cannon 5D. I have it for my work actually but I sometimes use it to take recreational pictures. It's an awesome digital camera but very pricy. It uses the Canon EOS lenses though that all of the Cannon SLRs use. I would get a Cannon Rebel digital SLR from Sam's club. You can get one with a 300mm zoom lens for less than $600.

That camera can do everything you want it to and if you ever want to upgrade, you can use the same lenses on the more expensive cameras like the 5D.

Good to know! Thanks for the info. I'm not too concerned with price as long as I know I can keep it for a long time an easily switch lenses.

I've developed an interest in learning flintknapping lately. I've been dinking around with it and reading books on it for about 6 months now and a coupla weeks ago I saw an ad for Go Knapping in the latest issue of Backwoodsman Magazine and I ordered their basic kit. It came in the mail yesterday and I'm off to a friend's house this afternoon because he wants to learn, too. Wish us luck and pray that we don't cut ourselves as flint shards can be sharper than a surgical scalpel. We've got heavy leather gloves, but you still can get hurt if you're not watching out. I'll post pics if we make anything today.

I play disc golf at a very high level. Taken it to the extreme of actually designing and building a private course so I can play when the urge hits me. I was an official for the United States Disc Golf Championships and got to see the inner workings of the Professional Disc Golf Associations best courses. Took that knowledge and developed a mountain course that is challenging, beautiful, and at times, depressing.

People from around the US make appointments to play. Made a lot of friends from around the country and look forward to certain times of the year when i have revered guests (meaning world class players) return for the challenge.
