My wife of 26 years has vision issues.

She struggles with her sight on a DAILY basis.

I get upset and sometimes hostile when it comes

to people not knowing what they say.

In your statement you asking (theoretically)

why would someone like her want to go to a

rock show.

I just spoke(typed) out anger, for that I am

sorry. I'm sure you didn't mean to be ugly.

Just me being ME. Talking before thinking!

From 1 RUSH fan to another, IM SORRY!!

RUSH ON !!!

It's all good. We're all guilty of letting out emotions get the better of us sometimes and going off without thinking about it.

Agreed. That is the height of rudeness. What comes after that, do you get to judge whether or not their "ailment" is worthy enough?

Nah, not meant to offend. When you are sitting with others like yourself (or supposed to be like you) it's real easy to get into a conversation about how hard it was to get a seat, a parking spot, what you go through on a daily basis just to survive.

When you blatantly have people next to you or around you bragging about how they got these great seats by lying, it's pretty upsetting! I talk to just about anybody while waiting for a show to set up and I've had many folks ask about my disability and what I go through. It's kind of like sharing war stories.

OK fair enough, but you didn't present it that way initially

I don't think any scalper would do that for montreal. The seats for the handicapped are crap. However, it's terrible that people would do this anywhere. Edited by USB Connector

Actually no, we get ADA seats.  Just as KKB2323's wife we need seats close to the stage. Each handicapped individual is allowed companion seats for their escort. Each venue determines how many companion seats they allow. I too am handicapped with vision and mobility issues, so we always say we are the blind leading the blind biggrin.gif what we don't do to see our favorite band!!!  laugh.gif

Fair enough, thank you for explaining this. My understanding is that at some venues at least, the ADA seating is not that great anyways, so if I was visually impaired, and yes that is very hard for me to even grasp, but I think I would prefer normal seating as close to the stage as possible just like I do now. Plus if some visually impaired used regular seating maybe it would free up more ADA spots for people in wheelchairs.

Anyways it breaks my heart to hear these stories of any of you folks getting screwed out of the seats that you deserve like this. It makes my blood boil. On the chance we ever go to the same show together and meet, you can let me know if any swindlers are in the ADA spots and I promise you I'll take care of them, even if I spend the night in jail.

In the meantime I can only hope that those of you filing complaints or pursuing legal action manage to get some results with that. Everyone here deserves the chance to see 2.gif this year!

Regards,

Chris

Well, it took me a minute to read your post (isn't it harder to type like that??), but that's asinine how you were treated. In my opinion, those who are disabled should have FIRST pick of their seats, or at least the venues should leave the ADA seats open until the day of the show, like handicapped parking spots, then sell the remaining seats - that haven't been bought by those with a disability - at last minute to anyone needing tickets the day of the show.

Also, forget all this sensibility crap. Personally, I think that you SHOULD have something from your doctor proving your disability. I can imagine people coming to a show in a wheelchair or on crutches and having no disability at all just to get better seats, and I'm sure it's been done before. Tack on some fines for those who try to abuse the ADA seating too.

I travel with someone who is visually impaired due to diabetes. He can still see but it has to be up close and then it's not as dialed in as you and I would see a face, a hand playing a guitar etc. I would be really sad if he chose not to go to a show because he could only see a little.

I know for a fact these seats are claimed by those who don't need them as I am handi-capped and it's pretty sad to see folks who got the seats and there is nothing wrong with them. Now I know you cannot see every illness someone has, but I'm nosy enough to ask those around me their ailment and the biggest reply I get (especially at Red Rocks) is nothing wrong, I know I can get a good seat this way! This pisses me off for the real ADA people who are in row 70 (the last row at this venue) while able bodied people are in row 1&2. angry.gif
Even if you are 10 rows back and you are healthy, you are in a much better position than those in the first few rows who would gladly trade you their seat for your health!

BRAVO!! applaudit.gif

I told her it's hard to read. She said it took her

30 minutes to type it. So, I shut up!!

She finds it hard enough to type, so a few mis spells

I can live with.

Personally I would write some sort of letter the the boys about this. There is absolutely no excuse for this crap. I understand some of your disability as I have a 50% hearing loss in my left and 40% in my right. Explain it out and let them know how you fell about being treated second rate. All I can say is it is worth a shot and maybe just maybe something good will come.

We know Rush fans that lie and request accessible
ADA seat JUST to get closer to the stage.
SHAME ON YOU!! You know who you are!!
With people like you the truly wheel chair, deaf and
visual impaired don't have a chance of getting seats
they legally qualify for.
The next time you think about purchasing ADA
seats to a show, ponder this: what If your spouse,
Child or parent was handicap and you was excited
about going to a RUSH show only to find out
that ALL the seating for ADA was purchased
Within the first 3-4 days they went on sale. Not
only 1 venue but most venues.

We talked to a REGIONAL MANAGER for Live Nation
(North West Region) and she confirmed what we
expected, ADA (accessible seats) sales ARE abused
very much !!
So PLEASE, Be a thinker NOT A STINKER.

God bless and HAPPY RUSH ING !!!!

The letter to the boys is a good idea!
I had planned to see them in Vegas and Arizona as they are bypassing Colorado yet again. Well, I got shit from the box office! They would not sell to me pre-sales and they could care less that I need visually impaired seating.
The lady in Arizona was sympathetic but the one in Vegas was a BITCH!!!

I would just call back and ask to speak the manager. Don't even give them a chance to ask if they can help. If the manager is not available see if you can get his boss keep going until you get to somebody that can DO something. I pulled that with QWEST a few years back and found myself speaking the secretary of the VP of them. Got what I wanted real quick..
