Obviously people can get beer, ice, etc... at the grocery store.

So, you can buy beer on Sunday in VA? Cool. Google maps tells me there is a Subway in the Giant plaza as well, if people wanted to pack a sammich instead of bringing grilling foods.

Please respond to this email to let us know if you:
a - plan on meeting us at the Giant and want to park/tailgate together
b - probably won't make it to the early meetup but would like to join us later for tailgating
c - play it by ear. Would like to join up but not exactly sure if the logistics will work out.

I don't know any of you, but you can put me down for a "c" - I have know idea where I'm going or what I'm doing. I'm just a dumb redneck from Georgia, but I have a ticket, a rental car and I can follow a map.

Hey guys, my Rush tribute band is throwing a "pre-Clockwork Angels" party up in Baltimore Saturday night the 8th. It's a 3 hour BYOB party, but we are selling tickets due to limited space issues. Here's the info on facebook if you're interested.

https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/450887861611504/

Shoot me a message on here or on facebook, hope to see some of you there. I know Rider is going, not sure how many other TRF members yet though. I'll post the flyer below for any non-facebook fans.

Jeff

Here's a couple of stories from my recent experiences at this venue that some may find useful:

Last year, there was a "no tailgating" policy in effect. (This is no longer the case, and grills are acceptable.) However, there is a "no alcohol" policy that has always been in effect. During a concert last year, I had a red cup in my hand w/ some hard cider as I walked to the venue. I was stopped by one of the local constabulary on bicycles. When asked, I told them what I was drinking and gave them my license. I was given a ticket for "drinking in public" which I later learned was $111!!! This isn't the norm, but it can happen.

The other incident happened earlier this year while exiting the venue. Traffic is directed out to the single access road in one direction only, based on which lot you are parked in. I actually got out easy enough, but once out of the lot, there was a sobriety checkpoint. Not all cars were directed through, but I was. Fortunately, I was sober enough that I got passed right through. I'm sure others had a more difficult night.

OK, that's it for the homily. Just trying to make sure everybody has a great time w/o any legal consequences later. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/trink39.gif

QUOTE (apetersvt @ Aug 29 2012, 12:12 PM)
PSEUDO-OFFICIAL MEETUP instructions:

As a creature of habit, I propose that we do the same thing the last 3 shows and meet-up at the Giant Grocery Store parking lot 30 minutes prior to when the parking lot opens up.  For instance, if the lots open at 5pm, we will meetup at 4:30.  I sent an email to LiveNation asking this question, but they have not responded.

Obviously people can get beer, ice, etc... at the grocery store.  There is also a liquor store in the same parking lot (for those not familiar with VA liquor laws, you can get beer/wine pretty much anywhere but liquor only in liquor stores).  Once everyone is accounted for or 4:55 (depending on lot opening time) roles around, we will then CARAVAN together to the venue.  As mentioned in prior posts, experience with this venue is that they tell you where to park.  Therefore, we have no prior knowledge of where we will be parking so it would be futile to tell people now where we will be.  I will also try to get 3 helium balloons and tie them to the car when we get to the venue for those who can not make the early meet-up but want to join us later.

I will make another post in a sec with a map of both Jiffy Lube and the Giant.

Also, if you would like, send me a pm and we can exchange cell phone numbers as backup if you cannot find us.

As workingman stated, please don't have open alcohol and get security all upset.  Simply pour drinks into a cup and we should be fine.

Hopefully SteelCaressed will be bringing a grill again and we do some cooking out.  So please bring drinks and possibly something to throw on the grill (keeping in mind that we may not be able to grill so I wouldn't bring real expensive steaks and have them go to waste).

Cheers http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/trink39.gif  http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/653.gif  http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif  http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/cool.gif  http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif  http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/yes.gif  http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/common001.gif  http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/1287.gif  http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/cheer.gif  http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/applaudit.gif

Thanks for organizing the pseudo-official meet-up Alan.

I'll be there w/ my wife, son and his girl, and some extra grills. I bring two aging weber charcoal grills and a couple of smaller grills. If anyone needs to throw a slab of meat (or a veggie burger) on one of them, there will be plenty of space.

BTW, if you've seen the pics from the previous meet-ups, we bring guitars, drums, and anything else we can, and have a big ol' hootenanny. So bring your stuff!!! http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/music.gif http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/653.gif http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/music.gif

Is it a pain in the ass to get back to 66 after the show? They did something like this in Atlanta the last time they played there and I was routed out to the GA 400 in the opposite direction I needed to go. Kind of frustrating when you're not from the area.

You are very welcome. Adrian and Janet are coming again this year as well. He will be bringing a grill as well so we should be good to go. I'll bring hot dogs, hot dog buns, and corn (for sharing) and maybe some chicken. I will also bring some drink cups to share. Thanks for the warning in regards to open containers (even in a cup). That sucks.

Tell young Gregory that he better show up at the tailgate as I certainly can't sing.

Also, we are staying at the Hampton Inn right by the venue so no need to crash on your couch. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Just a reminder that my Rush tribute band, Blame Canada, will be performing a pre-show show on Saturday night, not too far from Jiffy Lube Live. We'll be playing 2 sets of Rush and giving away 2 free tickets to the Rush show. A Led Zeppelin tribute will be closing out the night. Should be a fun time. More info here:

Between Second Nature, Blame Canada, and the real deal, you can certainly get your Rush fix this weekend. Hope to see some of you there!
