presto123
QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Apr 12 2012, 09:33 PM) QUOTE (Test4Eggo @ Apr 12 2012, 09:29 PM) QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Apr 12 2012, 10:09 AM) QUOTE (trenken @ Apr 12 2012, 10:08 AM) No real long songs like I expected. Really? If you were expecting a 20-minute "Hemispheres" or "2112"-like epic, then yeah, you're going to be disappointed. But there was no indication that there would be such an epic in this album, or even anything over 10:00. 3. Clockwork Angels (7:31) 4. The Anarchist (6:52) 7. Seven Cities Of Gold (6:32) 9. Headlong Flight (7:20) 12. The Garden (6:59) Those five songs are pretty beefy. It's been a long time since we've had five songs of that length on one album. That's a good thing, yes? Taking these songs into consideration: 3. Clockwork Angels (7:31) will be the 12th longest Rush song. 9. Headlong Flight (7:20)will be the 14th longest. 12. The Garden (6:59) will be 16th. 4. The Anarchist (6:52) will be 17th. 7. Seven Cities Of Gold (6:32) 21st. All out of 165 songs. That's pretty impressive to me. Long Rush songs usually, but not always, mean acrobatic instrumentation and long musical interludes. I truly think this is going to be the "sickest" Rush album since the 1970s or early 1980s. And "sick" is a good thing.... Totally agree. I think we are in for some acrobatics especially since these songs have been described as taking you on a journey. losingit2k
On the longer Combined Track thread GilbertK just posted this: QUOTE QUOTE QUOTE (Gilbertk @ Apr 15 2012, 01:12 PM) 9. Headlong Flight(7:20) 10. BU2B2(1:28) 11. Wish Them Well(5:25) 12. The Garden(6:59) 21:12 This can't be a coincidence! These four songs must be part of a major song that has been broken up into four seperate pieces!

They Bow Defeated
QUOTE (Merely Space @ Apr 15 2012, 08:41 AM) Dude, if it's a concept album, isn't one big song broken up into 12 pieces? Yeah, Rush originally said there would be 5 or 6 songs in the CA suite, plus some additional songs unrelated to the story, kind of like 2112 (the album). But now it clearly seems to 12 songs all connected to the story, which for me is much cooler. Now if they would just title it as "Clockwork Angels: Parts I - XII" it would be perfect! There's something about those roman numerals.
Joesaracer
Pardon my awful ignorance here, but does anyone know of the link in which the boys said there was going to be a suite? I've been following this album for what seems like forever, but I haven't caught wind of that idea. Any help would be appreciated.

Alex Lifeson stops short of calling Rush's upcoming Clockwork Angels a concept record, but he does admit that a theme runs through most the songs. "We have Caravan and BU2B; both of which we released already and played on the Time Machine tour," he says, referring to the group's extensive 2010-2011 outing. "Those two, along with three other songs, form a suite. The story of Clockwork Angels is in those five tracks." http://www.rushisaband.com/blog/2011/12/13...World-interview Your awful ignorance is forgiven. Just kidding. That was in December. Judging by the tracklist though it's been expanded from 5 songs to the whole album.

Link us to some of these reviews you are always posting about.... That was posted at Counterparts. Supposedly a poster there has a friend at NY Times that was at the listening party.(if there was one?) That is why I started that other thread to try and find out if the listening party was confirmed. If it did happen this guy might be telling the truth? He said there are a lot of keys and it is 80-91 in a blender and that the songs take you on a journey.
losingit2k
QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Apr 12 2012, 09:25 AM) QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Apr 12 2012, 10:15 AM) Wasn't one cut supposed to be pushing double digits? I thought I read that somewhere. I figured it out..... The 10-minute epic is the secret hidden 13th track at the end of the album. Thus the album is now between 76 and 77 minutes. And everyone's happy. That would be so cool if they did that!
