I love PJ Harvey. Rid Of Me is one of my all time favorite albums. I love it's rawness. 1022.gif

01. Angra

02. Yes

03. Porcupine Tree

04. Rush

05. King's X

06. Coheed and Cambria

07. Dream Theater

08. Blind Guardian

I'm surprised I didn't mention angra at all in my last post here. They're are definitely my favorite band... If you examine this list, you'll notice every band I have listed is either progressive rock/metal or power metal.

Angra is progressive power metal and then some. Absolutely outstanding band that has stood the test of time.

note: Dream Theater may have took it's spot in #1 if they were as consistent as Angra. This would mean Dream Theater would need three more "metropolis pt 2s" in their discog in replacement of six degrees, train of thought, and system

Well. I posted 2 years ago but my current obsession is Marillion....and if you must know. Sigh......Steve Hogarth era won me over. Fish era is still tops though.

Well actually Tom Waits is still tops but i digress.

x1yyz, U2 doesn't get any mention here, but I like them a lot too. Can still remember where I was the very first time I heard a song by them in the late seventies.

I had them as a "AA" band, which is high praise from me actually (it's a measure of my taste, not an attempt at objectivity, obviously). I was a huge fan through Unforgettable Fire. And then they became the Biggest Band on the Planet and I shied away, but they won me back eventually. They're too good to ignore.

I loved U2 for the entire 1980s. And I love Achtung Baby. After that, they seemed like a band on cruise control. Apart from a few exceptions, U2 sounds the same on EVERY DAMN song. And I can't stand the hype before each new album claiming they're going reclaim the crown of "biggest band in the world."
