Best Group of Five Rush Albums in a Row?

I had to think about this. For me their VERY BEST run is from 2112 through Grace Under Pressure, a seven-album run that includes six of my top seven Rush albums, and the other one is number eight, but my top five albums are A Farewell to Kings through Signals.

 

I HIGHLY suspect that 2112 through Moving Pictures will be the runaway winner here, but the results should be interesting regardless...

 

... and oh yeah, feel free to be as negative or positive as you want in my thread. All persuasions are welcomed here.

I went with Hemispheres - Grace Under Pressure.

 

Hemispheres is the Rush album I listen to most often aside from maybe Counterparts.

 

Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, and Signals rank among my four favorite Rush albums.

 

Grace Under Pressure has five outstanding songs on it.

I had to go with Presto to S&A ... not because they are necessarily my faves but because they mean the band is still producing.

 

There'll be plenty time for retrospecting when they've stopped releasing albums.

 

Until then every new album will be the best.

 

After that we can do some 'top trumps' style card shuffling to our hearts content.

Nice take on the poll! And there's plenty of great music in that span.

 

 

The obvious 5-album choice, as Goobs points out, is 2112-MP. However, I'd take Caress-Signals as my favorite 7-album stretch.

Yeah it took me less than 3 seconds. I knew what to look for as soon as I saw the topic title.

 

For me no other stretch of 5 is even remotely close. 2112-MP covers the best of their prog, and the best of their simplified style.
