Well, this is super easy for me because I have only seen one and I loved it. I own it on DVD.

The Office - Ricky Gervais was brilliant

On thing that perplexes me is the British shows calling a season a series. Like, The Office Series One, The Office Series Two. They are SEASONS!

I am sure I'd like others but I just haven't seen them.

Shout out to Benny Hill even though not in my top five. That was a great show of my youth... smile.gif

I remember being a four and five year old yank living in England. watching tv and...boobies!

At that point i was hooked on British comedy. Benny Hill is great!

Well in Britain they don't milk a series ad nauseum...they end. Three years would be a long run. No jumping the shark across the pond, and I appreciate that.

I like most of the shows in the OP list.

Bottom, Porridge, Alan Partridge and The Royle Family deserve honourable mentions.

9, 14, 21,24, 29, 33, 37, 38, 43, 44 are excruciatingly bad IMO.

Point taken.

And I agree that milking a show can be ridiculous. I think they milked "Lost" making it laughable. Many disagree.

But for the shows I enjoy, like say the American version of The Office, I am glad they "milk it". I enjoy the show and characters and don't mind that they keep going with it.

But I get your point.

Not too familiar with a lot of them but I really dig Extras with Ricky Gervais.

I don't know if it counts, but I own it on DVD and it is awesome!

I thought it was only "OK" at first but it improved with repeat viewings.

After The Office and Extras I wouldn't care to see another sitcom with Gervais in again he tends to play the same character. He's even irritating in the otherwise excellent "An Idiot Abroad"
