I just read this book. My daughter has wanted me to read it for a while now and I decided I better do it before the movie comes out. I'm always disappointed though when I see the movie adaptation after I've read the book. I hope I'm not with this one.

I hope it's not as disappointing as Eragon was. 062802puke_prv.gif

I wanted to hunt down the director of that movie. He butchered it! Only thing he got right was the actor choice for Brom.

Never read the book, but it looks cool.

It reminds me a lot of The Running Man with AHNULD back in the day cool.gif

Eragon or hunger games?

Eragon is like Star Wars crossed with lord of the rings

Hunger games is like Lord of the flies crossed with Gladiator

Filmed in my backyard. Woody Harrelson walked right by me downtown in August. Lots of sightings here in Asheville.

Yep, I read that they filmed sequences in Concord - the place I had to pay my first (and hopefully only) speeding ticket.

I know the 13-15 yo crowd is eager to see this. At my school, the librarian is having all kinds of celebrations around it.

Look forward to your reviews.

Initial reviews are good and say the movie conforms pretty closely to the book.

I loved the trilogy (the last one not quite as much as the first two) and didn't even know until recently that they're considered "Young Adult" books.

That said, I will wait to see the film until well after opening week. Hopefully I can find an "off" time to go so I won't be surrounded by shrieking teens.

And God help us if we start seeing "Team Gale" vs. "Team Peeta". eyesre4.gif

Maybe I should just avoid all the hype so it doesn't wreck the books for me. . .

Movie adaptations of beloved books so rarely capture the detail that's in my head. Then again, every head is different. tongue.gif

S'ok, I'll still be seeing it.

I think they got the main characters right at least.

I'm 80% done with the book, but I won't be seeing this till the theaters calm down a bit. I believe the movie will be able to do things the book could not. I think it will be good.

Im thinking on going to see it this weekend.

Anyone want to join me? tongue.gif

My nephew is a history teacher at the local high school. He didn't want all of his students going to see this at midnight and then coming to class tired on Friday so he got together with some of the other history teachers and they bought out a theatre to show the movie at 7:00pm today. Anyway, he invited me to go and so I'm seeing it tonight.
