I started decorating inside Friday and by 4pm I was almost done and decided I needed to get the tree so I could work on it Friday night. Got the tree and stopped decorating at midnight. Spent about 4 hours Saturday finishing up. It takes a LONG time because my ornaments are all almost blown glass and I have to unwrap them from bubble wrap and then I'm anal and have sections on my tree for the various ornaments. All the snowmen together, the santas together etc.
I'll try to figure out how to post a pic later today.

This year, because of a very curious 2-year-old, a hyper 5-year-old and a new kitty, I'm not putting up my good ornaments. I picked up a huge tub of red ball ornaments and large white lights. Most of my "good" ornaments are really just ones that have been in the family for years. I would hate for anything to happen to them.

Smart move! I will never forget my daughter standing on her plastic cooking pot and using her plastic spoon smacking and breaking a bunch of ornaments. For years afterward I used a circular baby gate to protect the tree not just from kids but from the dogs and their big furry tails too. Even now the dogs scare me because they will plop down right next to the tree moving the branches.

Anyone do those lighted candles in the windows? There is a house near my parents - HUGE house - and every window has an electric candle triplet in it. No other Christmas decorations. Just looked kinda creepy driving by.

We do those, but we have plenty of other lights, and the candles are only in the downstairs windows.

They look very nice. smile.gif

My mom did this in our house growing up. Multis in the bigger windows, singles in the small ones. In recent years, she's just been doing the front of the house. I think this year she may not do it at all. You can see her tree from outside the house, at least.

Someone a few blocks away has what looks to be a white camera tripod set up in the middle of their yard with one small white star on top. It looks like it's missing the entire body of an Xmas tree. Every morning when I run by, I think, "Today's gonna be the day I look over and see a lighted tripod tree" but every morning all I'm seeing is still just a white tripod sitting out there with a pitiful, lonely star on top. I can't believe there isn't more to this lawn decoration.

I have all solar powered or battery operated stuff in the front yard.

We have a new neighbor who put out all these wonderful solar powered lawn decorations. In Seattle. Those suckers aren't going to light up until June.

Tick, that is a lovely tree smile.gif

I doubt we will set up our big tree this year - no room. But when we do, it looks like this (from both sides):

This is the one we put the Disney ornaments on (plus a few others).

Nice!

Looks like we both share the same living room colour as well!

We also had that colour in our flat before we moved on the boat!

I did our decks up yesterday. We've got so many lights it looks like and explosion in a LED factory!

This is our tree:

The lights are on but it's too bright. We used battery powered ones but I only have hem on at night to save on batteries.
