I could care less when the stores open, I won't be getting anywhere near there on the day after Thanksgiving.

I care. I hate the fact people (with non essential jobs) can't have a holiday with there family.

The problem with society as a whole is they don't care. Sign of the times.

I hate the whole, "stop complaining, plenty of people would kill for those jobs" mindset. Who cares? If this employees were given the days with there family, it would change nothing economically.

We have become a society whose priorities are all screwed up. Family values mean shit.

"If people want to shop on the holiday, they should be able to shop."

That mindset is weak, very weak.

laughedatbytime, this is not an attack on you. I just took your first sentence to make a point that these days people have a "if it doesn't effect me" mindset, I don't care.

It's always kill the messenger isn't it.. rofl3.gif

Anyway this is the driving force behind "Occupy". So if you've been ridiculing the "Occupy" movement and feel there should be LESS retail (and corporate greed) and MORE family time, there's a certain irony or hypocrisy there. Not anyone in particular, just sayin.

what's really pathetic is that some people actually get into fights in the stores when the last item of whatever is taken. "I saw it first", "no you didn't, gimme it". Then "bang!" someone is shot with a gun.

Happy holidays. sarcasm.gif

...its too bad all there employees need these shitty jobs so much. It would be great if in a show of solidarity they all didn't show up for work. What a message that would send. It would be glorious...

here's an even better show of solidarity, an even better way to send a message:

DON'T GO SHOPPING THURSDAY NIGHT

^ it's not the companies or their employees or their 'doorbusters' (a term I would like to pile-drive into the heart of the ad agency that came up with it) or their $15 Blu-Ray players that need to change their attitudes and behaviors

it's the consumer

if: you don't go

then: they won't open on Thanksgiving again

Occupy Your Thanksgiving Dinner Table!

goodpost.gif

Don't like it? Don't go.

BTW, here in nevada, Friday is officially "Family Day", and is a state holiday.

In name only, of course. Nevadans will be punching each other over $99 tvs, 3:00 AM at Walmart, just like all other good Americans!

Because pointing out the misspelling of there/their/they're isn't being helpful and trying to aid others in understanding English. It's pedantic assholery that is quite rampant on the internet.

Pointing out the definition of an uncommon word helps someone understand the language better. Pointing out that he accidentally typed "there" is just being a dick.

Back on topic, I saw people camping out at Best Buy at 1:00 PM Thursday.

Nothing says "family time" like sitting on the curb in the cold wind on Thanksgiving!

facepalm.gif

Oh well, if I were their family members, I'd be saying "Great! More turkey and mashed potatoes for me!" wink.gif

Yep, a mall in Fayetteville NC had to deal with gunshots. It happened around the food court, so I'm guessing gang activity (not surprisingly)

Also, some place in Los Angeles had some violence.

The funniest part is, most of these 'deals' that people will hurt each other over trying to get first aren't really deals at all. Many of these items are the same prices as they were two weeks ago before they were marked up 40% then slapped with a Black-Friday sale sticker for the same price it was in early November.
