I didn't specifically mean the debut album. If they'd got a record deal in 1970 or 71 or 72 they would just have likely recorded an entirely different non-Zep album, same as they did in 75 and 76. I'm talking about a general band influence overall, and not just Neil being influenced by Bonham or Moon or Alex influenced by Beck or Blackmore either...

^^^this is probably the closest to what I thought: Cream and Zep, and Yes, especially bass-wise. I didnt really think of The Who until someone mentioned them earlier and now that I think about it, I agree. So yeah, these 4 bands.

You're focusing too much on what RUSH sound like compared to the bands they were influenced by. Just because they sound nothing like a band doesn't mean they weren't influenced by them.

Jumping on the bandwagon:

 

Cream, Zeppelin, and The Who.

 

I pretty much think it's an equal blend of all three. If I had to pick one, I'll go with The Who.
