I was wondering what the favorite prog instrumentals are among everyone that are not by Rush. I enjoy Ytse Jam by Dream Theater and Wedding Nails by Porcupine Tree.

PS: Your suggestions may end up on my radio show biggrin.gif

I don't know if you'd call it prog, but I love Track 13 off Queen's Made In Heaven album. It's a hidden track at the end. You have to be in the mood for something really atmospheric, though. Edit: And have 22 1/2 minutes on your hands. Edited by 1 of the 7

Genesis - The Brazilian

Genesis - Second Home by the Sea (unless we're doing a strict no-vocals rule, but it's an instrumental)

Genesis - The Waiting Room

Todd Rundgren - A Treatise on Cosmic Fire

Your Hand in Mine by Explosions in the Sky is a pretty strong contender. There's also Follow the Map by Mono, Epilogue by Opeth, The Creeper by Pelican, CAFO by Animals as Leaders, Glacial Planet by Scale the Summit, Binaural Beat by Canvas Solaris and a whole bunch of others. Can't say any single song is my favorite in this category.

For me, it's mostly Steven Wilson related stuff at the moment.....

Porcupine Tree- Wedding Nails

Porcupine Tree- Tinto Brass

Porcupine Tree- Mother and Child Divided

Porcupine Tree- * Up the Downstair

Porcupine Tree- Oceans Have No Memory

Steven Wilson- Belle De Jour

Steven Wilson- Sectarian

*I'm not sure if Up the Downstair is considered an instrumental as there's spoken words throughout the song, but live the spoken words are omitted completely.
