treeduck
http://i.imgur.com/MRQrKeY.jpg This is a decent sequel but it's kind of disingenuous to suggest that Dolph Lungren "stars" in this one, he only makes his first appearance around the 1 hour mark and his screen time amounts to about 5 minutes. Good fight scene with him and Van Damme though. Van Damme only has about 40 minutes screen time himself which leaves you with about an hour of action skirmishes and sci-fi shenanigans with unknown stuntmen and scientists. The film lacked atmosphere for me and was a little flat overall, but the action sequences and fight scenes were good. I decided to skip the 4th film in the series I think I've seen enough of the Universal Soldiers...it's time to move on to other Van Damme flicks. I think the answer has already been revealed though in Rocky IV! :hail:

treeduck
http://i.imgur.com/AP4tmFx.jpg This is an interesting and funny film, almost like a bio pic parody. And the acting from Van Damme is really excellent forget the action flick acting, here he's really acting. http://i.imgur.com/VFAk0WA.jpg Kind of like a Van Damme version of Bodyguard.

I can't remember... Anyway, this one was pretty good, the two kids act awesomely. Or maybe they don't act at all. Lovely.

treeduck
http://i.imgur.com/RfWFJtf.jpg Van Damme is all over the posters and the DVD covers but in truth he only has a very small cameo in this film, I mean we're talking about 3 minutes at the beginning and then the series of fights in the ring in the last 15 minutes. Meanwhile it has the worst soundtrack I think I've ever heard, even for the 80's. The songs are bad enough but the incidental music insults your ears at every turn, the synths sound like a blind hack with asbestos fingers on an ancient casio. In fact this whole film sucked ass and is like a hopeless Karate Kid rip-off made by pre-teens with wooden acting and a preposterous plot where the mob hatch a plan to take over every dojo in America. "Seattle is next on my list, I will have your dojo!" elsewhere the ghost of Bruce Lee trains the "karate kid" up! :eyeroll: http://i.imgur.com/6XNvj2k.jpg This is more like a proper Van Damme vehicle, a pretty solid action film. It's a little clunky maybe in places but has a semi-decent plot and mostly reliable acting support.
Mr. Not
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31VMQ76E13L.jpg\ as i expected, John Cusack was really the only good thing about this movie. There were other actors who did good, but overall the film was just.. the newly married couple and their actors were especially obnoxious, and I know that it's some sort of trick so we're glad when they're killed off or whatever, but that doesn't do it for me. You know what does it for me? Not putting in shitty characters to begin with... F*ck this movie. Edited July 8, 2014 by Mr. IsNot

You know what does it for me? Not putting in shitty characters to begin with... F*ck this movie. In fact, the movie I watched a week ago, Adaption, which came out a year before this one... Completely nails the movie to the ground with two lines... (But let's be honest, it pinned a lot of movies, which is why the quote exists to begin with) Donald Kaufman: Okay, well here's the twist. We find out that, that the killer really suffers from multiple personality disorder, right? See, he's actually really the cop and the girl. All of them are him. Isn't that f*cked up? Charlie Kaufman: Look, the only idea more overused than serial killers, is multiple personality. On top of that you explore the notion that cop and criminal are really two aspects of the same person. See every cop movie ever made for other examples of this. Edited July 8, 2014 by Mr. IsNot

treeduck
...Meanwhile the Van Damme run must continue! http://i.imgur.com/aExpDNo.jpg This is an entertaining thriller with a daft plot. In this film Van Damme plays a psycho killer (in a curly wig), and he also plays the killer's clone (without the wig - maybe so we can tell them apart). The clone has been created by some government agency and this sci-fi bit of the film is very ropey with little or no explanation of how they did it, or even why, with no scientists or doctors to explain anything. Anyway meanwhile we have Michael Rooker playing the obligatory obsessed cop nemesis who is trying to catch the killer and that's all you really have. Van Damme is quite good in both roles but the clone role is probably where he earns his corn, he plays him like a kind of child-like rainman made from the killer's DNA, with some kind of psychic link to him. Outside of this twist the film plays out like a pretty standard cop vs killer cat and mouse thriller. The ending is almost dafter than the plot itself as the clone ends up running off with a hooker he met earlier in the film... All in all a pretty good time waster which is good for a few laughs...

Good foreshadowing, and the story is overall very well done. Of course the two main roles portrayed by Nic Cage and Tye Sheridan were great as well. It may be my favorite film of 2013... It certainly better than the mediocre "Her".
