I thought Zootopia was more than deserving of the Oscar (it was one of my favorites of last year too), but I wonder had it and/or Moana were released the following year or the year prior, that this might've won the Oscar instead.

Holds up very well. Jim was a rock and roll god...

Val Kilmer was really good in that movie. One of his best performances, I think. I always feel so bad for their guests at Thanksgiving!

Moana is most certainly not deserving.

I recommend you Boy And The Beast, a stunning anime that story wise puts Kubo in the shade, and the animation is stunning. Came out last year and recieved little fanfare outside of Japan, where it was a major hit.

Segue, it's funny you mentioned Boy And The Beast because I actually watched that in the theaters when it had a limited run in the US! Pretty good film...but my friends who know Mamoru Hosoda's work more than I do say otherwise and suggest I should've watched Wolf Children instead...which I haven't yet.

Wolf Children is another masterpiece. But they don't really compare. Wolf Children is more gentle. But yes, he is an exquisite director and I love all his work! But his last two movies have been insanely brilliant.

The Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

Here's an unfinished, deleted scene that should've been included (after a bit of cgi magic). The fight sequence itself is quality:

Age of Ultron could've been so much better. I still liked it and thought it was ok with some good moments BUT I think it missed a bunch of golden opportunities.

Slow to get moving but great scenery all the way through. An interesting and different type of thriller. Dafoe's in good form.

Grade: B

Apart from porn (does that qualify?)

Porridge (A really funny comedy film about English blokes in Jail), The Italian Job (English original version), and "Get Carter" the original English version with Michael Caine set in my city Newcastle upon Tyne, the remake with Sly Stallone was just awful IMHO.

Sorry nothing high brow I am afraid. I would like to say that I watch black and white intellectual French films with subtitles but sorry I cant
