Why do you shave your legs?

this entire post is going to be TMI, but whatever, i'm not easily embarrassed so it's all good. lol

i hate shaving my legs. they are very long, so it takes a long time. also, when i do, i usually just go from ankle to knee. then every few months i'll Nair my thighs, but yeah, that crap stinks and is really hard to wash off, especially your hands. have thought about getting them waxed, but i don't have money like that. lol

when i was younger, and dumb, i used to shave my stomach, aka "happy trail" because i guess i noticed it came in dark. now it's crazy dark, so i have no choice angry.gif

i never pluck my eyebrows. luckily my hair isn't dark, so they don't look that bad. once in a while ill get them waxed.

for my "private area" i have different tools for what i want. usually, i will actually use my husband's beard trimmer just to buzz it down short all over, then shave the top, "f.u.p.a." part. if i want to shave all over, it is really hard. that crease between it and your leg is a tricky area laugh.gif but yeah, i hate doing a complete shave because it burns when it grows back, from all the heat and friction, so i get razor bumps/rash really bad. but, that just means i won't have to worry about it for a while so it's worth it lol and i only shave down there because 1. it's not the 70's lol; 2. i think the hair traps the funky smell that can go on down there; 3. hubby thinks it's sexy. idk... lol

you know, porn has completely ruined how guys look at us but whatever. i'll do as much as i can to keep his motor running, right ladies? tongue.gif

FWIW, after I shave down there, putting a towel that's been in hot water over it prevents redness and itchiness.

I have a feeling there's gonna be crickets on this one...

Okay, men. 'fess up.

Sure. I prefer to not let things get out of control, but the only thing I scrape is my face.

Me too. The razor and beard trimmer do not go south of the Adams apple.

I don't think so, Barn. You don't have a beer belly. no.gif

Ok trimming only.

I think it's hypocritical for a guy to expect the ladies to keep things neat and trim down there and not do likewise. And by "neat and trim," I don't mean shaved.

I don't understand why guys like the "bald" look. I'm not a pedophile. I want to see a nice welcome mat in front of the door, if you know what I mean. wink.gif

This is a fair argument. Although, for me, I get rid of everything because of my hatred of body hair but also because I just plain kind of like not having nothin' there. I don't do it for the husband. Sometimes it's ok to have some though. I change my mind all the time. Sometimes there's fluff sometimes there's none.

A stick figure mowin' the ol' Brillo pad?

She needs to let everything else get way overgrown though.

Or maybe get a second tattoo of another stick figure with a big machete or something cutting back the overgrowth.

QUOTE (Janie @ Oct 19 2011, 08:56 PM)
QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Oct 19 2011, 05:36 PM)
I only do in the summer right before I'm about to go swimming (which is about every weekend) or wear shorts (rarely), and only because I'm self-conscious of the stares/comments I'd get if I didn't. Nobody's going to stare/comment on my arms.

OMG! Doesn't leg stubble drive you crazy!?

What a total TMI post this is going to be!

I shave my legs every single day, day in and day out. I also shave my arms so essentially, I shave half my body every day. I hate, absolutely hate body hair. I used to get my arms waxed but then found it was quicker and less painful to just shave.

I always notice girls arm hair. I have dark hair and so the look of it drives me crazy which is why I choose to get rid of it. Even though there's not a ton of it. I always find myself staring at arm hair though. There's a friend of a friend who has arms as hairy as an ape. I am not kidding.

I love hair on guys though. Except back hair. I like men with hairy arms, chest and legs. But on me, hate it! Plus, there's nothing sexier than getting out of the tub at night and getting right into bed all naked and hairless. Feels soooo good.

Don't get me started on scary eyebrows and nose hairs.

For me, it's MOSTLY personal. I can't stand body hair from the waist down. It just feels...icky to me! Itchy, uncomfortable...

Yes, I shave "down there," but only because it drives me nuts if I don't. I don't do it out of some weird desire to attract or turn-on someone. It's purely a personal choice for comfort.

And, I do have hairy arms, but the hair is pretty fine, and completely blonde. I don't think I would worry about arm hair unless I just had it removed permanently. Knowing my body, if I started shaving, it would either grow back thick, dark and gross or I would have horrible razor rash all the time. Meh...I've left it alone and it has never been an issue.

Ok ladies and gents! After reading through this thread I got up, had my usual shower and shaved my legs and armpits! I do shave but less frequently in the winter. I have had a long day at work and im knackered so I had no intention but I felt so self conscious I couldnt let it slide!

I also trim "downstairs". I can't do a full shave cause it irritates and Im prone to thrush as it is.

Ooh I feel 2 pounds lighter!

Ahh, shaving. Having attended a fairly prestigious traditional women's college, this debate rages on in my mind. I usually couldn't care less about body hair, but sometimes it does get irritating. I went for a month without shaving my armpits just because I could. I sometimes shave my arms. Often I shave my legs, but only when I have the energy. . . so, in conclusion, I can take it or leave it. Much more important things to be thinking about, generally! laugh.gif

In the summer I shave my leggies every few days to be 'beach-ready', and give a little trim to the nether regions just to ensure I have no 'spider legs' sneaking out of my bikini bottom (though I usually just let it all hang out at the 'clothing optional' beach anyway). In winter I'm much more lax, and will often go weeks without shaving the legs and don't pay any attention to my hoo-hoo at all (except to keep it trimmed for my boyfriend's pleasure).

Whoo, that's a lot more intimate than I would ever think anyone would ever be interested in!

Now, for the record, I do shave the ol' armpits every day, and wish I didn't have to - 'have to' as dictated by my interpretation of what is sociologically acceptable. I would be happy if society was ok with hairiness, instead of turned off by it. I remember reading some little celeb blurb some years ago about Julia Roberts being photographed with armpit hair showing, and how shocked people were.

I guess I figure we must have hair for a reason, and nature doesn't intend us to remove it! But it's easier to conform....

Say, didn't some great band once say, "Conform or be cast out"? wink.gif

Yes, it acts as insulation. But since we have the double-whammy of clothing and climate control, we don't really need it anymore. In a couple thousand years we'll probably evolve out of it and everyone will be hairless except for, probably, the neck up.

Ladies and Gents, this has been a MOST enlightening thread! I love each and every one of you for sharing, so share I will.

Legs...nearly every day, always, you betcha. Unless I'm not sharing my bed, in which case, down to maybe once a week.

Nether regions...HUGE ISSUE for me! I had a skin condition, which affected my inner thighs. So, I had a procedure done that removed most of the hair follicles. Now its not the follicle right on the landing strip as it were, but shaving anywhere down there can be an extraordinary irritant and well, its really uncomfortable. I trim some and shave the perimeter gently, but THANK GOD I'm not the only woman who thinks there is something not quite right about being all bald. If it works for you (Janie you freak! LOL) then groovy. Just SO not for me.

Underarms...same skin condition (Hidradenitis suppurativa if you must know) affected this area. The hair follicles were removed, I no longer have to shave there! Ha! Jealous? Dont be, the physcial scars left behind have caused emotional ones, as I am so super self concious about them. Same scars in the nether region. Its awful really and I know those who love me and visit those areas are cool, but I'll never be truly comfortable with it.

Face...blame my Italian heritage...but I gotta buzz now and then. If laser hair removal werent so DAMN expensive I'd be all over it! For the hair AND the scars truth be told.

So there you have it...really guys, thank you for sharing. Such a sensitive issue, and you made it easier to kinda deal. xo

It's been quite a long time since I ventured into LadyLand here to see what's on the mind of the beautiful fem-fetales of TRF and when I saw this thread I knew it wouldn't take too long for someone to ask the male side of things.

One of my nick-names in middle school/high school was Ape so that should give you a good visual right there... laugh.gif

I shave my back as soon as the weather starts warming back up definitely and from time to time during the winter. As far as nether-regions I trim the landscaping every couple of weeks and shave the shaft pretty much every day, balls a couple times a week. I tried shaving everything down south once but with all of the other hair on my legs/chest (which I think look good) it just looked completely out of place.

Actually, some of you will be thrilled to know that I'm not bald atm.

In the summer though... you better believe it. Looks so much better to wear a bikini bottom when there's no brillo pad down there making it look like, well, like you got a brillo pad stuffed in your swimsuit.

Even though there are a few strips that hurt really bad, it's truly not the worst thing ever. Besides, it's sexy when they prep the area and then right after (after the wax). Or maybe it's just the gal I see.
