The Ballad of Dwight Fry by Alice Cooper

Mommy where's daddy he's been gone for so long do you think he'll ever come home
I was gone for fourteen days I coulda been gone for more
Held up in the intensive care ward lyin' on the floor
I was gone for all those days but I was not all alone
I made friends with a lot of people in the danger zone
See my lonely life unfold I see it every day see my only mind explode since I've gone away
I think I lost some weight there and I I'm sure I need some rest
Sleepin' don't come very easy in a straight white vest
Should like to see that little children she's only four years old old
I'd give her back all of her playthings even even the ones I stole
See my lonely life unfold I see it everyday see my lonely mind explode when I've gone insane
I wanna get outta here I wanna get outta here I I've gotta I've gotta get outta here
I I gotta get out of here I gotta get out of here I gotta get outta here I gotta get outta here
Ya gotta let me out of here let me outta here I gotta get outta here I gotta get outta here
See my lonely life unfold I see it everyday see my only mind explode blow up in my face
I grabbed my hat and I got my coat and I I ran into the street
I saw a man that was choking there I guess he couldn't breathe
Said to myself this is very strange I'm glad it wasn't me
But now I hear those sirens callin' and so I am not free
I didn't wanna be I didn't wanna be I didn't wanna be see my lonely life unfold I didn't wanna be
Leave me alone I didn't wanna be don't touch me see my lonely mind explode when I've gone insane

This makes me cringe every time. In a good way, of course.

Oingo Boingo - Dead Or Alive

There in the shadows, looks like a hand

Without its owner, to give it a command

It's got a purpose but I don't know what it is

I'm in trouble

There in the streets, looks like a man

But something wrong that I don't understand

His eyes are open but he don't see a thing

His skin is peeling off, his bones are sticking out

I'm getting scared

Oh my god (Is it dead?)

Is it living? (Is it dead?)

Is it dead or alive?

(Is it dead?), Is it dead? (Is it dead?)

Is it dead? (Is it dead?)

Is it dead or alive?

Hiding in the cupboards, like little mice

Hiding in the frigerator, that isn't nice

It's not an animal, it don't have legs

No one else can see it

It moves so fast, corner of my eye

Look again it's gone, it's hiding

Won't somebody help me, doesn't anybody care?

It waits so patiently, for me to lose my guard

I'm getting scared

Is it dead, is it

(Is it dead)

Is it dead

(Is it dead)

Is it dead or alive

(Is it dead)

Is it dead

(Is it dead)

Is it dead, is it

I remember there was a time

When dead and buried meant just that

Underneath the cold dark ground

Things stay put!

Oh them bones they make them bodies walk

Them bones, them bones

If they could only talk!

Is it dead

This thread is not complete without this oldie from the group Bloodrock DOA

If you were a young kid living in Texas or the southwest in 1971 this was SCARY! It did reach #36 on Billboard 100

Laying here, looking at the ceiling,

Someone lays a sheet across my chest.

Something warm is flowing down my fingers

Pain is flowing all through my back.

On to one of my favorites and a peek at early Gothic: Joy Division

Someone take these dreams away,

That point me to another day,

A duel of personalities,

That stretch all true realities.

That keep calling me,

They keep calling me,

Keep on calling me,

They keep calling me.

Where figures from the past stand tall,

And mocking voices ring the halls.

Imperialistic house of prayer,

Conquistadors who took their share.

That keep calling me,

They keep calling me,

Keep on calling me,

They keep calling me...

Talking Heads Live in Rome Psycho Killer

I can't seem to face up to the facts

I'm tense and nervous and I can't relax

I can't sleep 'cause my bed's on fire

Don't touch me I'm a real live wire

Psycho killer

Qu'est que c'est

Fa-fa-far better

Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, away

Oh, psycho killer

Qu'est que c'est

Fa-fa-far better

Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, away

Oh aey, aey, aey, aey, aey

You start a conversation you can't even finish it

You're talkin' a lot, but you're not sayin' anything

When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed

Say something once, why say it again?

Psycho killer

Qu'est que c'est

[ From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/t/talking-head...ler-lyrics.html ]

Fa-fa-far better

Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, away

Oh, psycho killer

Qu'est que c'est

Fa-fa-far better

Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, away

Oh aey, aey, aey, aey, aey

Ce que j'ai fais, ce soir la

Ce qu'elle a dit, ce soir la

Realisant mon espoir

Je me lance, vers la gloire, okay

Aey, aey, aey, aey, aey, aey, aey, aey

We are vain and we are blind

I hate people when they're not polite

Psycho killer

Qu'est que c'est

Fa-fa-far better

Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, away

Oh oh, psycho killer

Qu'est que c'est

Fa-fa-far better

Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, away

Oh aey, aey, aey, aey, aey, woo

Oh, oh, oh, oh

That is a wicked good tune. By far my favorite from Joy Division.

The NIN's cover on the Crow soundtrack ain't too bad either.

Love The Crow soundtrack.

NIN, Helmet, The Cure. 1022.gif

And that one tune from Medicine is intoxicating. 1022.gif 1022.gif 1022.gif

Maudlin of the Well writes some creepy avant-garde stuff, which is weird because while a lot of it is beautiful, the contrasts between dark and beautiful confuse you and freak you out. What's more, they claim these songs were written in a separate dimension, through means of astral projection.

The soundtrack to the sequel, City of Angels, is pretty good too if you don't have it. Rob Zombie covering I'm Your Boogieman, Hole covering Gold Dust Woman. Both albums are good early 90s alt rock samplers.
