go2wrk@95974
Peep's on the east coast: be on the alert for aftershocks. ....and It's only gonna get worse, from here on out...unfortunately I've been to web-site that predicts a massive 9+ mag. quake for the New Madrid fault-line,which runs from upstate NY down thru Ill. to Mo./tenn. to tex. to San Diego....It's gonna be BAD X a million. All of the eastern half, from mississippi river onwards, is gonna be toast/badly damaged...That's what they're sayin..I'm not sayin' it..they are..and it's supposed to happen between now and 12-2012. Just warning, peep's..get ready for it , and be prepared. it's gonna get seriously dicey...Like the worst roller-coaster ride you've been on X a trillion...no joke..wish it was. Not tryin' to scare anybody..just warning it COULD happen soon. Edited August 23, 2011 by go2wrk@95974
Rick N. Backer
I was sitting in my office in Boston when my chair started to move a little. I looked up and my book case was shaking ever so slightly. I got up and looked out my window to see if a big truck was in the street or something. A colleague came in and told me they were reporting it was an earthquake. Weird.

Ancient Ways
QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Aug 23 2011, 03:19 PM) QUOTE (go2wrk@95974 @ Aug 23 2011, 02:16 PM) Yeah, and they're saying it's a 5.8, which is barely felt in California..Truth be known--more like a 6.5 or 7.0. USGS routinely downgrades Quakes, then tells the media. They wouldn't be evacuating buildings with a 5.9... Washington Mon. Leaning? doesn't happen with a 5.9 Think about it....seriously.They're lyin' thru their teeth. Everyone on the East coast: Stay safe. How do we know for sure it was even an "earthquake"? I get it. MCM
We felt it in Pittsburgh. I'm on the 9th floor of my building and could feel the floor shaking.. peeked out my office door and everyone else was doing the same. Wasn't real bad, but was pretty unnerving. JohnnyBlaze
No offense to anyone but there's nothing cool about an earthquake. I guess when only speaking in terms of mother nature's raw power it's "cool."
1 of the 7
It felt the same as the one a few months ago (sudden nausea followed by the shifting back and forth). This time, I knew exactly what it was, and told the customers, "don't mind that - we're having an earthquake". My boyfriend didn't feel it, but his work building is bigger and (IMO) better made. EDIT: It was also creepy because, when we went on the coal mine tour last weekend, the guides were talking about all the hollowed-out areas that were left behind when the mines closed, and I said to my boyfriend, "What if there's an earthquake?" J2112YYZ
I felt it here around two this afternoon. I'm on vacation this week so I was just having a lazy afternoon at home watching some stuff that's got backed up on my DVR. I started to doze off a bit then I felt my bed shake. But since I was half asleep I didn't think much off it until my brother talked to me later and asked if I had felt it? So the mystery of my shaking bed was solved

Draco
I'm just worried about California, Bay Area to be specific. We're due for a 8.0 plus, and it's overdue. All of this stress relief all over the world is bound to be putting pressure on the faults in CA. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.... Yep, I agree..we're overdue here in calif. for a major quake.Haven't had one here in S.D. area since last yr.That one was 7.3 I had a dream/vision about 2-3 months back and I was in my backyard,I was looking into the distance about 200 ft.,and all of a sudden, the ground shook big time, to the point where I couldn't keep my line of vision. meaning,in other words, everything in sight was going up and down..must've been atleast 8.5 or 9 magnitude..maybe more.I saw that the leaves on the trees were a different color then they are now, so it had to have been fall or winter.Sure hope it's not prophetic... If it is, California's in deep trouble.

ILSnwdog
There was a small quake in southern Indiana about a year ago and they said it could be felt in Chicago...but it hit around 5:00 AM, so I slept through it. Glad everyone is OK.
