I think I got all of the studio and live albums (I didn't go downstairs to look). If you bought a compilation album first feel free to chime in.

I know this topic has come up before, but I don't recall seeing it as a poll.

For me it was 1980. If I had heard Rush on the radio before then I don't remember, but The Spirit Of Radio and Freewill were on all the time. I went to my favorite used record store looking for Permanent Waves. They didn't have it. I got All The World's A Stage. It had a lot of songs. It was double live. I love live albums. I have never regretted that purchase.

It was Spirit Of Radio best of. Gilby bought it and played it for me. I pled it slot didnt get really into them straightaway. The cd sat in our collection until one day i was looking for something new to listen to whilst doing the housework and i grew to love them over time.

All The World's a Stage. Friend of mine that was notorious for playing a minute of something then going "oh, wait, you gotta hear this" actually let Working Man play through the whole way with the preface "you're a drummer, right, you'll dig this" and played the whole thing (for once) I was hooked! And ordered my own copy from Columbia Records the next day (after assuring my mom that I really wanted this double album, and YES I know this band!)

Next up was Caress of Steel! 1022.gif

Hemispheres on cassette, followed closely by Counterparts, then fairly quick aquisition of all the others, and the inevitable upgrade to cds. Still have the tapes lurking in a box somewhere, actually, cuz I can't bring myself to part with them....!

Wow, that's a memory...Signals was the first bought with saved up allowance in 82. The next was MP, but i am not sure of the order. By the time that HYF came out I had all of the studios except for FBN and the self titled though I had Archives. I found them during the summer after my senior year and by the time Presto came out, I had them all. Presto was the last piece of vinyl I got till Feedback. Eventually I got them on cd.

First album I bought was Moving Pictures, but the first album I came across which also led to my discovery of Rush was of all albums, Roll the Bones roughly 3-4 years ago, even though it was the 4th album of their's I bought.

These were my first 5 Rush releases....

1. Moving Pictures

2. 2112

3. Snakes and Arrows

4. Roll the Bones

5. R30

In 1988 a friend that was visiting me, handed me Hold Your Fire and said, here you will like these guys. I was hooked.

old.gif I got out of high school as Rush hit the stage and never really heard of them till '88, did not listen to much radio back then.

2112, Christmas Day 1977. That and Point of Know Return were my first two albums, coming with a new stereo that also had the newest available 8 track technology along with the turntable. Fortunately, both albums were on vinyl, not 8 track.
