Saw this on RIAB. Didn't see it posted here yet, so thought I'd share.

"According to a post on the Hudson Music Facebook page yesterday, Neil Peart gave an unannounced 1-hour drum class at The 16th Annual KoSA International Percussion Workshop, Camp & Festival at Castleton State College in Castleton, VT over the weekend. The Facebook post includes a picture of Neil at the workshop along with this caption:

An unannounced class by Professor Neil Peart at Kosa/Vermont. A pretty special day...

A special day indeed! Hudson Music also added the following details in the comments on the Facebook post:

Neil did a great class and played drumset with a small percussion ensemble and he also played djembe with them to close out the class. A good time was had by all....

Wow. Thanks to Ken for the heads up."

I don't really think CT meant that post to be anything other than what it is: an opportunity to quote Natural Science.

Yeah, I was.

apparently somebody in this thread jumped the gun and thought I was making an issue out of Neil giving a clinic. I don't have a problem with Neil giving a clinic. It's just that the lyric popped into my head once seeing the word "clinic".

Of course, I wouldn't be interested in the clinic because I'm not a drummer. I just hope that those who attend the clinic aren't just going to meet Neil.

edit: Thank you, Mara.

Nobody lives in Vermont. I'm sure the wildlife and the crickets loved it -

Vermont also has berkenstock wearin' people who live on granola and don't take baths.

Other than that, it's a beautiful state.

What did he do at the clinic? Did he teach anything? Did he have any kind of format? Or did he just play?

Of course he had a program...

First he said, "I'm enormously powerful..."

and then he said,

"watch and learn kids... watch... and learn."

And then he ripped into a 6 hour 40 minute solo.

Then he ran off to the bus, while giving everyone in attendence the finger and drank himself into oblivion while telling Michael what a bunch of kiss-asses they were at the clinic. Then he got on his bike the next morning and rode home to Morin Heights, QC... thinking how cool he is.

^^^J/K ^^^

VT is one of the states I would actually move to -

Me too. So I did. Ain't ever moving back to NJ, either. no.gif

But your points are all well taken; not a lot of people live here. I may well have had more people living in my old town in NJ than live in the entire state of VT. People around here worry about a terrorist attack on the nearby nuclear plant. I point out that no self-respecting terrorist would attack Vernon, VT. How do you brag about it? "That'll show those Americans! We killed all 3 people living in the state!"

At any rate, Neil should have played closer to here. My local bar has (the) Macallan.

I for one think it's awesome that he did that. (:

But it still raises a lot of questions. What brought him there, or at least motivated him to go there?

Though I suppose I should just be happy for those who got to be part of the clinic. There really is no one better to learn from than the masters.

I don't think Neil has to have ulterior motives for everything he does wink.gif

What brought him there,

A car.

Just kidding, good questions. Perhaps something personal involved, or, he's just a plain real nice guy who decided he had a day to spare for such an event.
