List your 5 favo(u)rite [the (u) is there for Canadian & British posters] Rush albums. You may (like myself) have them in order on a playlist on your mp3/ipod.

1. Permanent Waves

2. Moving Pictures

3. Signals

4. Vapor Trails

5. 2112

Moving Pictures

Signals

Presto

I have other favourite tracks, of course, but those are the 5 I can listen to all the way through without skipping to the good bits.

Um... Let's see...

- Hemispheres

- Permanent Waves

- Counterparts

- Moving Pictures

- Grace Under Pressure

Almost said AFTK if not for Madrigal and Cinderella Man (but the latter's not so bad).

The list must start with Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures. Those are the two albums which have the quintessential "Rush sound." That is Rush, and although I respect that they change a bit with each subsequent recording, the closer they get to that sound is the closer they get to "Rush." The further they move from PeW and MP, the less like "Rush" it sounds.

No particular order -

Hemispheres
Test for Echo
Presto
Moving Pictures
Grace Under Pressure

PeW and AFTK were close, though.

They lost to TFE and Presto???

Yes, PeW and AFTK are 'better', but I prefer to listen to Presto and TFE. Spectacular albums. yes.gif

PeW probably would have edged out GUP if it hadn't been for Jacob's Ladder.

1. Signals

2. Permanent Waves

3. Power Windows

4. Moving Pictures

5. (Gasp!) Hold Your Fire

I realize that I am solidly in the 80's here but that's when Rush really took hold for me.

I do love 2112 through Hemispheres and I listen to Presto to S and A a ton. But these 5 albums define me as a Rush fan.
