VEGAS, BABY!!!

Recommended Posts

What an amazing time we had in Vegas this weekend!!

The Meet-Up was a lot of fun. Everyone was great (what else would you expect from Rush fans?). My wife and I really enjoyed meeting everyone. Our special, deepest appreciation for Mr. Vegas himself, Pedro. You are a righteous dude. Thank you!

Now, on to the show.

I won't go into a long boring deal here, but I will say the band was absolutely on fire. I honestly do not recall any slip ups. Geddy sounded great. The "cell of awareness" went perfectly...LOL!

The guys really rocked hard. There was a great energy, which I hope you can pick up from these pictures. Alex did a lot of mugging as you can see, and Geddy flat out busted us on one picture, and made a great face. It was one of the best times we've seen them. A++

Enjoy the pics, and we'll see you next time!

Wow, you got better pics than me, I should have taken a real camera and not just my phone.

Here's a link to the one's I did get, hope it works. It's the Vegas pics from my facebook page.

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1...18&l=fab4fa111a

On to the details.. What a great weekend! Got to meet Unattractive Truth and his lovely wife, Rolinda Bonz, Pedro and many more (special mention to the RIAB'ers who's "handles" I can't remember and who hung with us on Sat), Kelly D, Weatherman, etc.. Could someone who took pics at dinner send me one of them?? Seems like I remember two people taking pics, but I can't remember who.

Rushcon was great fun and entertainment. What good people Rush fans are!

Big thanks to those I spent time with on Saturday night, a good time was had by all!

The show was FANTASTIC! My seat was great, the closest I've ever had for a Rush show. Right smack in front of Ged, whoo hooo! I didn't notice any human errors during the show, possibly they were out of sync for about 30 seconds on "Time Stand Still"? What do I know.

Did Ged have to switch out his bass at the beginning of the show where he normally doesn't? It seemed like he had to switch out for some reason where I didn't remember him doing that before.

Neil's solo was absolutely spectacular, I don't know if I ever enjoyed his solo as much as this time.

Every time I see them do Working Man it seems like Alex is more on fire than the last..

Can't wait for the next tour!

Peeled the paint off the walls is an understatement, I thought they might have to call in the fire department..

Now, you have to start making some more of those t-shirts.

A fantastic weekend and show! I think Neil in particular was playing the best I think I've seen him play in 20 years. I know, we always say that about our attended shows but I'm serious. Since Neil worked with Gruber his style has been more layed back almost behind the beat as compared to his old way that had a more of an attack forward into the drums. His setup clearly shows that change as well. Anyway, all the way into YYZ where about half way through he seemed to miss a bit and then again during Limelight. He seemed to me to kind of settle back into the norm after that. They also got lost a bit during the tom roll riff section towards the end of La Villa. But he was straight up slammin' at this show, and it was maybe the best show I've seen by the band ever. I've been lucky and have seen this tour 5 times starting opening night last year, Vegas, Red Rocks twice and Vegas this year and a dozen or so shows since 87' and I swear it felt like Neil himself was in the Time Machine. Even with the slips this bands 80% is in the stratosphere for most bands. Now I'll admit I'm in tune like most of you with this bands music like no other group and the band clearly knows and respects that quality in us. There is simply no other band I feel the way I do about these guys! They are like family in my musical heart.

From walking early in the day and seeing Neil's bike outside, the amazing show, the after party, Holly and the ladies of Rushcon, Steve's 3D Gallery presentaion, to sitting by the pool and the plane home soaking up Moving Pictures again and again I'm feeling a sense of gratitude to everything Rush that is moving me to tears. I'm so happy for the part this has meant to me providing a true soundtrack to my life that makes me more complete every time this bands work passes through me. I have loved this trip in the Time Machine and frankly, don't want to get out. Thank you Neil, Alex, Geddy and to you all that share in this wonderous journey. 2.gif

It was a great show. I don't mean to be the bearer of negative comments, but compared to last years' show in SLC, I heard more than a couple slip ups this time. Things that come to mind were Alex's missed notes in Spirit Of Radio, and something being out of tune in Witch Hunt.

Had an excellent time, and my mom won $1500 at the MGM's slots! Only negative experience was some complete asshole in the merch line who thought I was cutting in front of him. Had a great conversation with that guy...

Alex had to trade out his guitar during "Freewill" but still nailed the solo!!! God among men, I say.

I didn't notice anything wrong with TSOR or Witch Hunt. Except for the switch-outs previously mentioned, it sounded flawless to me. I'm not a musician however, and sometimes they notice things that others don't.

Perhaps I'm not the most thorough observer though...and the Chimay and Jaeger Bombs may have had something to do with it as well...

I saw the S&A Tour three times, and this one twice. This was the best of the five, IMHO. One of the top 3 times I've seen them, period.

No question this show was spectacular. We saw them in Vegas last year and this show was definitely better. I'm sure it helps that they are taking a day off between every show now. Alex's Freewill solo was jaw dropping. Can't wait until the next tour!

If I could generate more than one T-Shirt per week, then maybe I could make a second career out of it to finance my Rush habit.

Great pics, UT! Some of the best fan pics I've seen, and you were lucky to get some good ones of Neil new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Thanks!

We had a perfect vantage point.

My wife actually took these so she should get the credit.

I really like the ones with the screens in the back, showing the whole band in different parts. She did a great job.

AWESOME on the meet and greet! I've seen them four times this tour and I must say Vegas was the best of all! The Sound was incredible as was the boys! Full of energy on that night!
