metaldad
Any 5 songs in any genre of music that at some point you have said"Damn i wish i wrote that" You don't have to be a musician to wish. Just name the band, the song and why you wish you wrote it.Have some fun, In no order........... The Beatles -While My Guitar Gently Weeps - My fav Beatle song and it has imo, Claptons best solo. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here - A beautiful song that always makes me think about loved ones that are are no longer here. Pantera - Walk - Everytime i hear that monster opening riff i am like Damn, if only The Who -Won't Get Fooled Agian - One of the greatest Rock songs ever and the drums are just killer Black Sabbath -Black Sabbath - The song that changed everything in music and one of the first real"Heavy Metal "tunes
Xanadu93
Rush - "Natural Science" - it's my favorite Rush song, and is IMO the most perfect example of what Rush is. Yes - "The Gates of Delirium" - same as above, except with the added beauty of "Soon". The Smiths - "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" - absolutely beautiful song, lyrics and music, all in the span of about four minutes. Big & Rich - "Leap of Faith" - it's not really a proper "country" song, but I'd consider it my favorite country song. Incredibly underrated song by this group. Lupe Fiasco - "Superstar" - this is the only one on my list that's had any kind of major popularity; regardless, it's my favorite Lupe song, my favorite rap song, and I love his flow in the song. In a way, this is similar to what my 5 favorite songs list would look like, except much more strict.

Aretha Franklin's "R-E-S-P-E-C-T" Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven" Rush's "Tom Sawyer" If I HAD written all 5 of those, I wouldn't have to work. Unless I wanted to. Presto-digitation
Will have to think on that, but I do wish I'd written Tom Waits' "Time". I don't even enjoy Waits, but I love the song...specifically the lyrics. (Listen to Tori Amos do this song properly).

driventotheedge
War Pigs by Sabbath, Masters of War by Dylan or What's Goin' On? by Marvin Gaye.....my 3 favorite anti-war songs of all-time. They should all be proud of their efforts. Imagine - John Lennon In My Life - The Beatles (written by Lennon) La Villa Strangiato cuz it's a unbelievably spectacular piece of music Blue Sky - Allman Bros. (written by Dicky Betts) cuz it's one of the "happiest" songs I've ever heard Angel - Jimi Hendrix I reserve the right to add more as the days go along and I think of other songs. I completely agree. My other four, just off the top of my head: Gladys Knight and the Pips "Midnight Train to Georgia" The Pretenders "Pack It Up" Rainbow "I Surrender" The Beatles "Yesterday" (not because I'm crazy for it, but because I'd be a multi-millionaire from the royalties)

Like your list too. Dogs and One of These Days are the closest Floyd ever got to metal IMO. Dogs has an edge to it most of their stuff doesn't have. I love Animals. Great album.
