barney_rebel
So 2 or 288? I think it's 2. Computer folks say 2, math folks say 288.
Lost In Xanadu
Before looking at any comments, I said 2 also.
Good, bad, andrush
288. 48/2(9+3) Do the parenthesis first. Then, if I'm not mistaken, you just go in order, whichever comes first: multiplication or division. Yes I know, Pemdas says multiplication first, but if subtraction is in front of addition, then you subtract first, right? Since division is there first, you end up with 24(12) 24x12=288. Good, bad, andrush
if it read like this: 48/(2(9+3)) then the answer would be 2. You'd distribute the 2 to 9 and 3 and get 18+6 or you could just multiply two by 12. Either way, what's in the parenthesis becomes 24, and 48/24 is 2. But it reads like this: 48/2(9+3)

If you add up the number each vowel is assigned (a=1, o=4) you get 9. Edited April 8, 2011 by Good, bad, andrush

Good, bad, andrush
QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Apr 8 2011, 12:39 PM) ok, how about this one.... 48/3pi ( I don't have the fancy pi symbol handy) 16pi, same thing. If it was 48/(3pi) then it would be approximately 48/9.425, and since I don't have a calculator at hand and I can't access calculators online because of flash shit or something, I'm gonna estimate to 5.4 ish, although that is probably wrong. If you meant to write it with the pi at the bottom though, then it would be 5.4ish. But I'm guessing you didn't have the dividing sign, since I don't, and you meant to write 48 divided by 3 times pi.
