I have so many favorite guitar leads/solos in various songs. Curious what everyones favorites are, from any band/individual.

*Comfortably Numb - David Gilmore

...just a perfect melody and rhythm, beautiful, very 'vocal'.

* Blue Powder - Steve Vai

...amazing use of amplification, great feel and rhythm.

Steve Vai's solo in Whitesnake's "Wings of the Storm" off of Slip of the Tongue. It isn't necessarily my favorite, but I seem to appreciate it more and more with the years.

I'm not a guitarist, but I really like the following:

Alex's solo in Analog Kid

Alex's solo in The Pass

Alex's solo in Limelight

David Gilmour's solo in Another Brick in the Wall

Also, just the touches of blue in Alex's guitar in Available Light

Moving this to Random Samples. I am going to restrict "Making Modern Music" to gear only topics.

Thanks!

This isn't 'the' favorite of mine, but its fantasic.

The climax of the song, Miles Away, by Winger. The way the song builds with raw emotion, taking you to the edge of sadness, and heatache, then the quiet cry of the guitar after all is said and done. Like how you feel when you start to cry, then the feeling after the sobs subside... the hollow feeling inside, after a good cleansing cry.

The one that makes my cry is Kai Hansen and his Solo in "How many Tears" by Helloween. You have to listen..... The solo is about 3 minutes more a instrumental part than a solo but one the best I know.

Another great solo is the sliding guitar in "This flight tonight" by Nazareth.

Not to forget about Mike Oldfield and his work on Tubular Bell II.
