they spent a long time working on VT too... and look how great that turned out.

If time taken and a great album are related then VT is not a good example. Absolute worst album the band every put out.

are you on crack? VT is their best album in the last 20 years.

sorry dude, but ak2112 had it exactly right there. eh.gif

I definitely consider Vapor Trails a very successful album from a musical standpoint. It's got some very personal lyrics penned by Neil, and generally the only complaint ever brought up is it's production. I rate it much higher than P/G, Signals, and HYF. And I put it on par with Power Windows.

Did I really just see it suggested that Clockwork Angels could become "the great lost Rush album"? Have a little faith, people.

I think this will more than likely be the last album. Five years between 'Vapor Trails' and 'Snakes & Arrows' and now another five years for 'Clockwork Angels'? It is becoming obvious that their interest in making new material is waning. 2014 will be the 40th anniversary of the first album being released, and we're not too far from that. I think that, if this does happen to be the last album they make, they'll release this album, have a tour for support. If we're lucky? We'll have an R40 anniversary tour and these can be called the farewell shows. If that were the case, I would have no problem with that. They've had a great career and have given us a lot of great music and memories over the years. And I'm sure we are all thankful for that. But they're all getting to the age where it's time to settle down and start thinking about retirement. And I'm happy with that.

that's right

everyone knows that RTB is their worst (followed closely by T4E and 2112)

VT is in the top 5 for sure, but Signals, p/g and PeW are out in front of it all day long

I hope this is sarcasm. Do you seriously consider 2112 to be one of their worst albums?

I can understand the arguments on why some folks think RTB or T4E are not on the short list of their best work... but 2112? Seriously?

we need more faith in this band! Rush has an opportunity to go on tour for another time and they are taking advantage of this. An album can take 20 years to make if a band really wanted it to but I personally believe Rush is doing what they love, performing and maybe they just need a break from making music. lets just wait and see what happens.

I wouldn't call VT a "great" album (mix is definitely the worst), but I think it was the best thing to come from the band since GUP and it set the tone for S&A... which is a great album. I expect CA to shine big time.

It would suck if the album didn't come out by the time the tour starts, but it was nice the plan was reminiscent of the old days with a warm-up tour preceding the primary tour in support of a new album. Perhaps management should have allowed more time with the writing/recording before booking dates.

Given the way so-called "fans" bitch about what material they have put out in the last, oh, 15 years, I wouldn't be too keen on making new music either.

Besides, have any of you paid any attention to the music industry? That's right. It's a bloody shambles. There's certainly no money to be made there. Everyone's just going to download it for free, because, hey, it's the thing to do, man!

After everything they've already done in their career, I hope they do what makes them happy. If they're hot to tour then I say go for it. They can record any ol' time they want, if they want.

Do you honestly think they give a bloody rat's ass what the fans think about the songs they write? They do what they want, and accept your money graciously.
