Hey gang! Here's the place to discuss all thing bass (moan).

Basses:

Cream Fender Jazz (Mexican) Best $200 I ever spent! I replaced the original white pickguard with a tortoise shell one.

Cream Rickenbacker 4001

Amps:

For recording I use my guitar POD with either a 2 x 12 cabinet model or a 4 x 10 cabinet model. I also have a really old Standel solid state amp from the 60s which was rescued from the garbage. I had another one that belonged to my dad, but that one died and I wanted to replace it. The rescued amp sounds pretty damn good for being old and crappy. It's a 1 x 15 combo that's like 4 feet tall. A reall pain in the ass to move.

When I play with my Rush tribute band I play through my guitarist's bass rig which is a really nice GK head through a 2 x 10 cabinet with a tweeter and a 1 x 15 cabinet. Nice actually, though not mine.

Carvin 4-string I had custom made out of unfinished American Walnut. I got the active model but I don't use the onboard EQ at all. I basically just run into an ART Dual MP preamp and from there straight into Pro Tools. I have a fairly consistent chain of Waves plugins I've settled into to get the sound I want at this point.

When the new CD is done and it's time to start doing some gigging in support of it, I've been thinking it would be cool to snag a 5-string Steinberger (going for that "hi-tech" look don't ya know, LOL...plus it would get in my way less while I'm playing keys). The original 5-string Steinbergers don't seem to be very easy to find, though. Ditto with the Trans-Trem models.

My bass has just gone from dinged category to the busted and bruised but playable category (worthless) category just now. That white bit at the top of the neck that seperates the neck from the head just cracked a bit at the G string and now my G string is pressed up against the first fret. Cannot play an open G confused13.gif

Maybe its finally time for that new bass I should have bought years ago.

I just started playing Bass, so I haven't the best equipment ever. I play an Epiphone Embassy Standard 4-strings. My amplifier is a Morgan Bass Amp, not the best sound, but I've been playing live with it, and I play The Pass with it, so it works fine for me. It's my first bass, and I hope that some time in the future I can afford to buy a Fender Jazzbass. I payed about $400 for the set; guitar and amp.

I just picked up my newest bass- a Rouge six-string. I wanted to move into six-string, so I started with a Rouge.

How do you like it? I have a Rouge fretless bass. It sounds & plays great.

I just bought my first bass and amp. Waiting for it to be delivered the beginning of next week. I bought a Fender Standard Jazz Bass in Midnight Wine and a Crate BT50 amp. Looking forward to learning to play the thing!

Bah, sorry for never coming back.

Umm, in the first month, I started to pick up a scratch and pop from my electronics, so I thought it was one of "those" basses. But I brought it to my local shop, and whoever soddered the electronics did it horribly, so after that quick fix, it's now fantastic. I would definately recommend it, but get it from a dealer under warranty, so you don't have to pay for stupid things like that.

Just for the heck of it, I'm playing Gibson Ripper thru a 16 channel Mackie Mixer with about 400 watts of power out to a pair of recently "acquired" Bose bass bins. Damn Bose makes nice speakers, clear as a bell!!! 1022.gif

Sorry, with all of this gear buying, I've been a bit too poor to go on beer and liquor runs. rofl3.gif

I'm a guitarist and I just play bass for fun, in a local rock band. It's fun, I like it.
