My Violent Violet... she needs surgery. The plug where you plug in the patch cord is loose and the sound keeps cutting out. Should I be expecting to fork over a lot to repair this problem?

She's a beaut, Ya

Thanks! It's a short scale bass cause my hands are quite small so I hope I can fix her cause I havent had much luck finding many other short scale basses.

Thanks guys.. I really dont wanna make matters worse so I migth have to bring it in to Steve's and see what they can do. It's just so annoying trying to play it only to have the sound keep cutting out. angry.gif

Well, there's also the fender mustang bass. Those aren't purple though.

Thought you'd like that. SX are pretty good, they're just assembly-lined so nobody will pay much for 'em.

have you guys seen the new squier jazz bass? it's awesome!

http://www.squierguitars.com/products/sear...rtno=0326702521

That's sweet, I want to check one out. I'm new to playing bass and wanted to try a Squire Bass to get used to playing a Fender so when I go looking to buy something nice, I'll know I've found what I'm looking for when I play it.

I have a new rig!!!

Basses:

Squier Fretless Jazz Bass: Still has this one.

Squier 50's Classic Vibe Precision bass: Awesome, and new.

Memphis Precision Bass: Pretty loud and awesome.

Strings:

Rotosound Swing Bass 66: The only way to play a bass is to have good strings.

Amps:

Acoustic B100 1x15 Bass guitar combo amp: LOUD and nice highs and lows on this one.

I'm sure many bass players and Rush fan will disagree with me:
I think the P bass is better than the Jazz.

I go now tongue.gif

Nothing wrong with P Basses...if I had the money right now, I'd get myself a '51 Reissue Precision. I think I like that bass even more than the Geddy Jazz.

I agree with you. biggrin.gif But then I guess I'm bias. (see sig) tongue.gif

Anyway, I recently had a go of a Jazz and it didn't feel right... confused13.gif

Not a very good pic, but I just picked this up a few months ago and am going to make a go at learning at my advanced age!

I disagree with you, but not just because "Geddy plays a Jazz."

I genuinely feel the Jazz is the better of the two... and I've had both.

Confession time....

I was in a music store a week ago and thought, gee, I've been playing bass for twenty years now (mostly just as a hobby)... isn't it about time I had even a semi-decent amp???? laugh.gif

Granted, since I don't really "play out," I don't need anything real big or fancy, but damn! I'm plugging my bass into a lame 15-watt keyboard amp at home!

Oh, the shame..... sad.gif

So did you buy anything? I recently started playing bass and use a little practice amp at home. When I jam with friends, I run through the mixing board. I do play through a small amp that goes to the mixer, but that's more of a practice amp too. It doesn't give me much room to have my own 'sound'. I'd like to buy a decent bass amp for myself.
