I've got an Ibanez GSR200 and Hartke B150 practise amp. I've only just started learning bass, but lust after a Rickenbacker 4001! There's not much call for a rock bassoon player so I'm swapping reeds for strings. biggrin.gif

I'm now thinking of saving the extra cash and going for Geddy's signature Jazz but I still like the sound/look of a Rickenbacker and my high opinion of the copy has been confirmed by a guy who plays in a Rush tribute outfit...

The Geddy Lee sig Fender Jazz is a great playing / sounding bass...

Actually, if the choice was between the GL Jazz and the Rick for a main bass, I would chose the GL Jazz... it is a more versatile instrument than the Rick IMHO...

I don't own a Geddy Lee Jazz, but have played on them and again they are a great bass...

I would own one (GL) if I didn't already own a 1962 Fender Jazz... wink.gif

Jaye, some people - including me - find that one is not enough...

Larks, look away now!

That 4080 is breathtaking... I saw a picture of Geddy playing one when I first started playing and my jaw dropped. It's my dream to own one in Azureglo, as soon as I have $8000 to throw away.

Assuming you can find one for sale in Azureglo. There was one in Portugal or Spain, but I don't think it's for sale at the moment. I got to the point where I didn't mind what finish it was. As it happens, I really like this Burgundy, which photographs differently every time:

I have gear lust/envy all the time. I was on the Talk Bass forum the other day and found this:

I'm a broke-ass college student. I think nice gear (and a BMW M5) is my only motivation for having a lucrative career.

the amp i got is an old fender m-80,wich i don't use very much...But still sound good !!!

At last, after a long search, I've managed to pick up one of these:

1982 Rickenbacker 4080/12 MG

I had lots of help tracking this down and having it shipped over here. Now I'm broke, but very happy and ready to do Xanadu smile.gif .
