How about this... Neil is the best drummer in Rush!

That reminds me of when someone asked John Lennon (or was it Paul McCartney?), "Is Ringo Starr the best drummer in rock?" "He isn't even the best drummer in The Beatles."

That was in an early Rolling Stone. Love that line!

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to show y'all some pictures of, and describe to you, my drum kits if your interested.

My "Big" kit is built around a six-piece Pearl Export drum kit consisting of:

22" x 16" Kick Drum

8" x 8" Tom Tom

10" x 10" Tom Tom

12" x 10" Tom Tom

13" x 11" Tom Tom

16" x 16" Floor Tom

The main snare drum is a 14" x 8" wood Tama Superstar.

I have 6", and 16" Remo Roto-Toms added to the end of the conventional drums and a 14" Roto-Tom to my left.

Also on the left, there is a Roland SPD-20 Total Percussion Pad and to the left of that an auxiliary 10" x 5 1/2" metal Tama snare drum.

Above the SPD-20, I have an assorted mix of five different cowbells with a 10" Avedis Zildjian Splash above them.

The rest of the cymbals are:

Two 8" Avedis Zildjian Splashes

15" Avedis Zildjian Thin Crash

16" Avedis Zildjian Medium Crash

18" Avedis Zildjian Thin Crash

20" Avedis Zildjian Medium Ride (used as a crash)

20" Avedis Zildjian ? Ride

18" Sabian AAX Chinese

13" Avedis Zildjian New Beat Hi-Hats

14" Avedis Zildjian Amir (auxiliary) Hi-Hats (generic, I know - but do sound good)

The 13" hats go on a DW 5000 stand and the kick drum is beat with DW 5000 Double-Kick pedals.

The drums and cymbals are mounted on mostly Pearl hardware which is in turn mounted on a Pearl ICON rack system .

I also have a "little" five-piece Gretsch Catalina Birch drum kit consisting of a 22" x 18" Kick drum, 10" x 8" and 12" x 9" Tom Toms , a 14" x 14" Floor Tom, and a 14" x 5 1/2" Snare drum.

The cymbals used with this kit are a 14" Zildjian A Custom Crash, a 17" Zildjian K Medium Thin Dark Crash, a 20" Zildjian ? Ride, and 13" Zildjian Z Custom Hi-Hats.

The hardware, Hi-Hat stand and Double-Kick pedals are by Gibraltar.

I love your drums...sweet. I'm an admirer of drums. And I LOVE "Bo Dog"...so cute. I'm a big dog lover (have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) and my parents have a yellow lab that looks just like your yellow lab!

Thanks for sharing your drums with us! cheer.gif

Pretty nice setup. Odd, though, it looks a little tough to play. Was that just for the money shot or is that the setup you go with?

BURN!

BURN!? I think you meant "My dad's bigger than your dad".

My point was that if I didn't feel comfortable posting pictures of my drums on a world wide web site that I would be scorned by those who have. And that looks like the case! I'll post some pictures and soon as I get some good ones, you can be sure of that. Just be kind when you see them.

cool10.gif cool10.gif cool10.gif cool10.gif trink39.gif trink39.gif cool10.gif trink39.gif Want the specs? Well here's what I know I use, starting with the drums-

All Ludwigs, except for the Tama Gong Bass drum and the DW "edge"snare. The drums were made in Sept'89, at least thats whats stamped inside. The Tama Gong was ordered to match the color of the Ludwigs, they did a pretty damn good job. Think the Tama is stamped March'90. The DW snare was purchased within the last three years, played a buddy's of mine back then, and I was hooked!!

Sizes well, 8 and 10in open concert toms, 12,13 closed toms, 15,16,18 floor toms, and a Tama 20' Gongbass drum. Bassdrum is a 24in. (Does that make me "old" or am I living in the past?)

Cymbals are all Zildjian, except for the 20in Wuhan. 8in x2 splashes, 10in splash, 20in crash, 18in crash, 16in x2 crashes, 22in ride, 13in hi-hats, 14in X-hats, 18in and 20in chinas.

I have re-produced Neils cowbell tree as to the best of my ability, with some modifications from a welding shop, an additional cowbell to the right side of the kit. (2 sets of chimes--not pictured)

Oh, and an LP icebell. Please don't forget the squrriel cage fan tucked in under the hi-hat, and my own version of a stick stand w/drink holder.

Heads, well they are DW clear coated on the top and Evans Red Resonite heads on the bottom. Standard Remo on the snare, and an Evans EQ3 on the batter side of the bassdrum. Hand painted coated ambassador on the front. This gets change out about every 1 to 2 years when the artist paints me another!

Hardware, if its made it's a being used!!! DW, Tama, Ludwig, Pearl, LP, Gibraltar, Elmers, Scotch, WD40, Duct, Groove Juice, Shell Shine, Zildjian cymbal polish, elbo grease(out of that right now), Guinness, Single Barrel Jack Daniels, and a shit load of Marlboros.

Hope that covers it........... trink39.gif cool10.gif trink39.gif cool10.gif trink39.gif
