So . . . no Clockwork Angels CD then?

if you look at their lives from a "normal" person's perspective, they're about to enter their 60s and would probably start thinking about retirement. Then again, their career is anything but normal and they can pretty much work whenever they want and quit whenever they want. I'm sure they could throw in the towel right now, and live out the rest of their lives very comfortably.

I guess it makes business sense for them to continue touring (although to a lot of empty seats.). They're making some cash and keeping their brand out there. My concern is that CA will turn into one of those albums that gets remixed and remixed and remixed until it's a hunk of crap. I like the new tunes, especially Caravan, but I can easily see it turning into an album full of "dog years"....

I'm more then happy they extended Time Machine tour, didn't get a chance to see them at Columbus and there playing down town Cleveland for the first time in ten years.

extending the tour may make some fans happy who didn't get a chance to see them this year, but it also seriously drains them and IMO takes away from the quality of their performances. I remember thinking the same thing in 2008 when they extended the S&A tour, you could definitely tell they were tired and just going through the motions through the whole second leg.

Extending the tour is the best thing they have done! It will allow many that didn't get to see them this year to witness the awesome show! Europe needs to join the masses that saw the Time Machine Tour! Besides now we know that we will have RUSH for at least another 2 if not 3 more years! So allow them to do what they do best...Play music Live!

This has also given them the chance to film this mighty popular tour! So its all a win, win for us and them! Besides they might change some songs this time around and include Jacobs Ladder!

So let 2.gif ride this huge wave of popularity!

They did some of those albums in a few days back in the 70s so maybe they will finish this one after the new year?

Yeah, they have to record like a zillion different guitar tracks a day for a year to get near to finish, together all the "Wooooaaaaahhhhhhhssssss" and it takes like so forever to record the Kitchen sink and get that into the mix too these days.

Don't forget recording an army of Geddy's to fill in behind his main voice.

That must take forever and a half.

The bass tracks are probably the quickest to record, because it's only one solid track, not 14 different intervals of bass parts.

At this point, with the way they are as a live band, they're better off surprising us one day and just playing all of CwA live, recording it, and releasing it as the official "Clockwork Angels" album.

I'm not convinced there will ever be a CA tour. The boys have talked about touring in 2011, but I don't ever remember them ever saying it would be specifically for CA. That being said, I'm sure we'll hear more new material on this leg. Hate to say it, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is the last big tour for Rush.

I think we're definitely getting a CA tour summer 2012... and THAT will be their last big tour.

I dunno... can you really see them touring 2010, 2011, and 2012 back to back?

I don't think we'll see CA until 2012.

That would be very disappointing to me. I hope it's out in the first half of 2011.

According to Geddy in Clasic Rock, the new album won't be out til the end of 2011.

Clockwork Angels will come out when it comes out. I am just happy to get to seen them again in April and to bring friends who have never seen a Rush show. If I had to guess I would say that they will finish the album and tour well into next year and then take a break.

2014 will be the 40th anniversary and I would be willing to bet that they will celebrate that milestone with a tour. After that, who knows... I can't exactly see them dragging their old tired carcasses around like the Stones, but I've been wrong before.

it blows me away that people are complaining about them touring and the ticket prices.

it's simple supply and demand from economics 101.....they wouldnt tour and charge what they do it there wasnt an ample enough amount of people and promoters out there to make it work financially.

I'm sure they love being RUSH and making music.....but at the end of the day they have been lucky to work at something they love.....but make no mistake....RUSH is a business......there are many people that depend on the success of that business.

athletes love to play their sport but they damn sure want to make sure they get the biggest contract they can when it's negoitations time. I make a decent living but if I had the opporntunity to make double what I make now....I wouldnt turn it down.

Just because we perceive them as being "rich" and "not needing the money" doesnt mean they dont want more or maybe even need more....we dont know how they live, what family members they choose to help etc....

they want to be successful and they are cashing in while the timing is right....that's good business.....it aint no different than back in the glory days when they played massive tours and added legs because the demand was there.....if 8000-12000 people per city will pay on average $100 per ticket then you can bet your life they will keep touring and adding legs.....so would I. Now it's up to us to either agree to buy those tickets or say nope....too steep for me I'm done. it's that simple.

A few thoughts...

1). Saw them at West palm Beach for TM, and Geddy's voice was shot. Glad to be able to go to Ft. Lauderdale, where the kickoff of this leg will be, his voice should be better.

2). I'm not going to complain about ticket prices this time around. I'm thinking of VIP packages this time, just for the ease and convenience. Treating my wife and I happens rarely, so why not? Now if I could just find out how to get pictures with Alex and Geddy...

3). In reference to the "gazillions" they're supposedly making...they're supporting their offices, managers, techs, etc. etc. That's GOT to cost a bundle. Think of all the people directly dependent on them for their livelihood. If you've read Ghost Rider, there was a section where Neil was talking about running low on funds. I don't think they're as well off as some are thinking (but yeah, they're not worrying about their next meals, either...).

4). I'll keep going to their shows as long as they keep playing them. A Clockwork Angels tour? 2012, maybe. I think they'll finish up Time Machine, take a break, then complete CA. Take another break, then tour. I hope they're around for the R40 tour. Not sure I'd want to see an R50 tour, though...lol.

This past fall was my first RUSH show and went because I got my dad tickets for Father's Day. At the concert I immediately realized I could listen to this band for now on and hope to expand my collection of their CD's soon.

I'm a younger fan and also a new member here but I am kind of disappointed because I was looking forward to this CD coming out.

I hope this doesn't turn into a Chinese Democracy scenario

It won't, for one, we already have 2 songs. For another, Geddy/Alex have stated that they've already written 4-6 more songs, all they need is some studio time.

I'm trying to stay positive about CA but it is VERY odd that they released 2 songs so quickly and now have no real time table for album release. Generally bands (see Iron Maiden) will release 1 or two songs about six months ahead of an album, not 2 years! I think they may be struggling a bit with material. Perhaps LP will turn into EP.

At any rate, as far as touring goes: bring it on! There is no credit card debt I will not endure in order to see a Rush show or two. If it's a cash grab, well, that's fine with me. It's not like I don't get my money's worth. Jesus, people. We're still getting nearly three hours of live music for our money--We got Moving Pictures in its entirety! I think, "thank you" is more appropriate than all the bitching.
