The rule for sizes of signatures

Quite some time ago, I was PM'ed by a mod and asked to lower the size of the picture in my signature. Well, I've noticed that there are some sigs with HUGE pictures.

Examples:

http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...dpost&p=2128532

http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...dpost&p=2096022

http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...dpost&p=1980119

Also, I can't find it, but there's a user on here with a black and white pic of Geddy.

So, are we now allowed to have gigantic signatures? And if not, shouldn't the members in the above examples be asked to change theirs? Even though, mine is pretty big as well so maybe the rule was changed.

No, the rules haven't changed. The same size restriction still applies, and the restriction is that the size of your sig -- all content combined -- must not exceed the following example, no matter what size screen you have, or what resolution you're using.

fonz, we never mind the opportunity to remind everyone about this, so thanks for the thread. There are so many members here now, and we mods simply can't police every person's sig.

However, you could have simply said something like, "So, are we now allowed to have gigantic signatures? I'm noticing some big sigs out there now," instead of complaining about how you were asked to trim your sig while calling others out for theirs. Makes you look like a tattletale, you know? wink.gif

I know that my sig definitely jives with the North American Standard...

653.gif Got the size I think...  old.gif Keep this bumped, as there are a few that are out of size....

Nope, yours is too big.

Make a post with this image in it, and compare it to your sig. If your sig is taller and/or wider than the image, it's too big.

Along the same lines, why is it that I have trouble viewing some posts due to their size? BeOhBeBob's ALWAYS run off the screen for me - I have to scroll horizontally to be able to see everything.

This is not a crippling issue for me - I am just curious.

^ and for those that don't/won't modify their sigs to comply?

The sig restriction is just a guideline, not a rigid "follow this or die" rule (sorry to disappoint you tongue.gif). Huge sigs are annoying and were getting way out of hand here, and this is an effort to keep them reasonable.

When we suggest to someone that their sig is too big, most of them are adults about it and do some trimming. Contrary to what you seem to believe, this isn't boot camp. cool.gif

I see your point. While I'm not trying to be a tattletale, I can see how the way I worded it makes me come across as one. The way you worded it is what I meant to say.
