This is a great beginner bass; I don't own one personally, but I have played it and I found it to be rather user friendly. That's important in a beginner bass.

And hey! With some judicious sonic twiddling, you can sound like Geddy! new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

^^ seconded. Played around on one today at the store, and while I suck at bass laugh.gif it sounds great.

These sound great.

It's a really decent bass for a beginner.

I have one just like it just to thump around on, the only thing I don't like about it is the light weight of the body. The heavier weight of the neck doesn't balance it out so it tends to "neck dive". Something with a heavier body is the only thing I would want different. For the price though, it's a steal for a decent sounding little bass.

I teach bass lessons and have encountered the affinity Squire and the vintage modified one. That extra 100 bucks buys you alot more bass. If you can swing it, I would go for the one for 3 bills.
